My twin 13 year old daughters are 13 and good archers since age 8. They have a 15# youth bow. What draw weight do you recommend at age 13 for girls who want to hunt our land???

      A:

For that age you will want to get a bow closer to 30# or 35#.

  • Q:

My daughter is 13 and is about 5 ft. She's on the smaller side for her age, so would your recommend the Pilgrim Youth Longbow or a different bow? She's a beginner, so I want to make sure the bow is not too big, but want her to have a little room to grow with it as well. Thanks!

The bow shouldn't be too big at all, maybe even a little small for her, I
bought it for my 8year old son and he did fine with it, and he is small for
his age, he is a little over 4.2 feet.
Hopefully this will help you on your decision.

I would recommend going the Pilgrim Buck long bow. It is a 58'' @ 29 pounds this will be a lot better bow for her to grow with.

  • Q:

I am looking at purchasing a bow for my 7 yr old daughter and 5 year old son. I have no idea where to start. How do you tell which hand, the weights, size, etc they would need?

      A:

For a 7 yr old I would recommend the Pilgrim Longbow at 20-22#@24'' and the Squirt at 10-12@16'' for the 5 year old. You will want to select the hand that they use the most.Ie. right handed you will want to purchase a right handed bow. A right handed bow you will hold in the left hand and draw the string back with the left hand.

The smaller bow is 34" and the longer one is 48". They are both considered youth bows.

34" - good for my 7 year old, but not sure if it is going to work for my 9 year old.

This bow has a clear coat on it. I would not call it water proof, but it will be fine if it gets a little wet.

      A:

Rain or shine just watch your arrows if you use real feathers. You may want to wax your sting if you are going to shoot in wet conditions.

  • Q:

I'd like to buy a pilgrim for my 4 year old. What arrows do you recommend for a #10-12 @16 for him to start shooting? I shoot tab, do you have a tab for his age and an arm guard? Thank you very much.

      A:

Depending on his over all size, you will want to either go with the Angel Youth arrows or the 24" Wooden Youth arrows. We have a few youth tabs and armguards available. Most of them are going to be for 6 or older.

  • Q:

    What is the draw weight x length progression for this bow, i.e., 12# @ 18", 14# @ 20" 16# @ 22", etc?

      A:

It sounds like you are looking for a force curve for this bow, we do not have any data for it. You will gain/lose about 1-2 pound(s) for every inch you go down from the rated draw length of the bow. It is really hard to judge with youth bows though, as they do not have a lot of weight at their rated draw lengths.

  • Q:

Looking at the Pilgrim with 24" draw length. My question is can it safely be drawn past 24" as my son already has about a 23" draw length and I don't want him to outgrow it in a year. Just trying to decide whether to buy this or go ahead and buy an "adult" bow.

      A:

I would recommend going with the adult bow as it is not wise to draw this bow past the 24" rated draw length. That is the case for most bows on the market (they have to be longer, say 64"+, to draw further).
