Q:
what is this good for i have been shooting for years and i have never felt the need to protect my chest at all even though my chest is pretty big, but i see all those olympic archers use it, is this some kind of trend or does it actually got a purpose?

Depending on your form, this can help protect your chest from the string. A more open or closed stance and how close you keep the string to your chest will all make a difference. This product is not needed by everybody.

I found that wearing certain clothing, particularly heavy hunting clothing when shooting my longbow, I have a clearance problem where the string hits my jacket and sometimes the area of my chest where it meets my bow hand armpit. The chest protecor helps to hold the contact area in and thereby reducing the amount of contact. I wish they made a camo chest protector. I bought the Easton model and tried to dye it black. The dye did not take very well. It did help my string contact issue though.

Yeah! So its called a "protector" really for no reason. What it does it keep your shirt and other things if youre female from interacting with the string as you shoot. Gives you more consiatancy.

Q:
I would like to wear this chest protector over cold weather hunting clothing. I wear a L to XL depending on the cut of the clothing. Does this chest protector have enough adjustability to be worn over heavy clothing ? Will the XL work for me ?
