  • Q:

I ordered this wax a while back and haven't figured out how to use it, as it's hard as a rock! Do you have to heat it with a lighter or some other heat source before you can apply it to your bow string? I've been using Textite for now.
    Thanks.

You use it like any other string wax and simply take the wax and run it up and down string. The heat from running it up and down will help melt the wax and get it to stick to the string. After that take a small psc of leather and wrap it around the string and then run it up and the down the string, this will force the wax into the core of the string and burnish it.

Just rub it on your string like normal wax then take your finger and rub the string up and down tell the heat from your hands works the wax into the string.

use only the light colored side. the manufacturer, had a wonderful idea using the pine rosin, unfortunately, a step of straining off impurities was omited, so if you are using the dark colored side, it wont work, or worse, it will abrade your string. here's a tip, when you have a bunch of left over cakes, double broil them in a cup cake paper. this remelts and all the sediment once again settles, or you could always slow pour off the good stuff if it's worth your time, just my two pennies...

I usually put it in a plastic ziplock bag and carry it in my pocket to warm it up a little before I use it so it's easier to apply. I live in a hot climate so leaving it in the direct sunlight works well too. Don't skimp on application and run a piece of nice leather up and down several times to further melt the wax into the bundles. Good shootin'!

Hold the wax with your palm, place the string between your thumb and the wax and run the string through.
