  • Q:

can i use this to fix a crack or small break in the back (the side that faces the target) of the bow?

      A:

Depending on the materials used to make the bow and the severity of the crack this should work well. Give us a call at 1-866-587-9501 and can go over the damage with you and make a recommendation for the correct adhesive.

  • Q:

what part of the hide is the glue derived from?
Asked on 9/6/2012 by bowfather from Battle Ground WA

      A:

This is made by scraping the inside of the animals hide. The small pieces that have come off are what you would dry and use for glue.

  • Q:

can i use hide glue to laminate two pieces of horn together?

      A:

If you are building a horn bow then you would want to use a fish bladder glue that will be stronger than Hide Glue. If looking to install horn nocks on your bow tips, it would be better to use Titebond 3: http://www.3riversarchery.com/product.asp?i=5615

  • Q:

can you do something like laminating the hickory backings to another wood? or is it just for animal products to wood?
    Asked on 1/7/2011 by Anonymous

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

I would not recommend to use the hide glue to laminate wood to wood. You can but it does not have the strength as a manufactured glue. For wood to wood I use only Urac-185, Titebond lll and also the EA-40 Smooth on epoxy because of their strength and durability.
