Q: Will this work on raccoons? Have you used it? My big 3 fix blade on my recurve blow through it. Does this bring this down? Asked on 3/29/2013 by Phlipper from Abilene Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: Yes, it will work on raccoons, but I like to use a dull 3 blade on game that size. Answered on 4/1/2013 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery A: I haven't tried this head on Raccoons, but it is deadly on Jackrabbits. Answered on 3/31/2013 by Anonymous A: Hey Phlipper , Although these are great heads for sure , I would NOT recommend hunting Raccoon sized animals with them . I always use my deer set up & broadheads for groundhogs , raccoons , etc.....Coons are small bears , and Boar coons are small Grizzlies ...Least in attitude ;) These type heads are great for squirrel , rabbit sized prey and stump killing ;) Answered on 3/29/2013 by Anonymous A: Penetrates more than you might expect, but effective. Depends on draw weight I suppose. Far more lethal than rubber "bunny" type blunts. I would think the greater issue would be shot placement, hitting a raccoon with a 3 blade broadhead should be leathal. I like these for varmints and stumping but if I didn't care about losing or destroying arrows on small targets I'd choose slick trick 4 blade broadheads. Lethal on anything. Cheers, Tim. Q: I would like to shoot these at a target, stump shoot, and occasionally shoot small game with the "Hammer Head." What material should I use to shoot these at a target; foam, clothes, rags, ect. Do you guys sell any recommended block targets that I could buy? I currently shoot a foam block target by Redhead. My field points go in about 4-7 inches in. Thanks 3RiversArchery! Asked on 11/18/2012 by ArcheryTeen2056 from Riverside, CA Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: These blunts are not designed for target use. Answered on 11/19/2012 by Anonymous A: A hay bail works best for hammer blunts Answered on 11/19/2012 by Dave from 3Rivers Archery A: they are great for stumps and small game but i don't know about targets. definitely not foam, but a stack of burlap ought to work well. Q: What effect would these tips have on a Turkey inside 20yds out of my Alphaburner (77lbs, 463gr arrow @ 288fps) ? Would they be suitable since my bow makes about 85ft/lbs of k.e. ? Asked on 5/12/2011 by Doug from Percy, IL Know the answer? Answer this question 6 answers A: I do not know how much damage they would cause out of you compound. I have only ever shot them out of a traditional bow. Answered on 5/12/2011 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery A: I can only imagine that they would pass through a turkey coming from a bow like that. My own exprience from a 60# recurve so far is complete pass through of a 3/4 inch plywood from 30 yards! (32 inch arrow dynamics hammerhead 650gr at 164fps.) Answered on 10/7/2011 by fastltz from godfrey, il A: I would not. I think you would be better suited with a cut on impact broadhead or some kinda mechanical with a sharp blades. Answered on 11/22/2011 by DT from Bowling Green, KY A: Personally on a Turkey I would'nt use anything but a broadhead. Answered on 4/4/2012 by Rick B. from Michigan A: I'd reckon they'd knock it over alright but they wouldn't make it bleed you'd be better off using a good broadhead they're really only for small game Answered on 4/17/2012 by Big Pete from Goolwa South Australia A: Personally, I would not try a body shot with these tips. I would worry about them just bouncing off, as turkey feathers are like armor, stopping even some shotgun bb's. You would probably be fine because your arrow seems to be very fast, but I wouldn't want a wounded bird. With a head shot though, they will give that gobbler more than just a headache. If you are capable of hitting a turkey head with a field point, these would be great, because they fly just like field tips. Answered on 4/23/2012 by nate from tomah, wi
