They do not make a brass insert for this size of shaft.

The ST excel uses the "H" size nock. You would need the brass insert listed as Item # 6759-3. I would first confirm this with 3Rivers customer service.

It will depend on a couple other factors besides just the weight of the point. I would recommend getting a field point test kit and using the different weights to figure out what you need to get the arrows to fly out of your lower weight bow.

Try Stu's Calculator V.2 online....it is a great Excel based program were
you can enter all of your variables an come up with the perfect setup to
fit your needs. It is only as good as the accuracy of input information
though so take the time to be exact. Also calculates FOC%, estimated FPS
and total grn weight...and it's free....down load the accompanied
instructions as well. Good luck & tight groups!

I have 5/16th fiberglass arrows. The tips are blunt. (Non-drilled). Am I supposed to drill them and use inserts? If so, will any of these work?

Those kind of arrows won't work very well with these.... probably best to give 3 Rivers a call and let them match up your needs with the proper equipment safely.

      A:

if the arrows are solid fiberglass, chances are , they re fishing arrows ,
so , no , dont drill them, look into the various fishing heads, they use a
type of outsert that that installs over the shaft.

  • Q:

I recently purchased 100g inserts for 2016 alum shafts . My question is the 3/16" shoulder on the inserts that extends in front of the arrow shaft. Should that 3/16" of insert be considered as part of the arrow shaft when cutting the shaft to length or should the shaft be measured from behind the insert ?
Asked on 1/12/2013 by rick from St. Louis,Mo.

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

I do not count the insert as part of the arrow length and I would not recommend doing so. That small amount up front should not change the impact of the shaft at all. And different inserts will have different thicknesses. It would make it more complicated to set up arrows in the future.

My first reply to your question was based on the inserts that I have used. The 300/340 inserts are listed for 2315 and 2317 shafts, so they will be too big for 2216 shafts. The inside diameters for the 2315 and 2317 shafts will be 0.329 and 0.325, but the 2216 I.D. will be 0.311.

I use the 100 gr. brass inserts for carbon shafts, but they are way too small in diameter for 2216 aluminum shafts.
