Q: Hello , I recently purchased the Bitzenburger and I am about 6month's new to archery. I have looked high and low for information on the cockfeather. Is there a certin location on the jig for the cockfeather? or do i just fletch all 3 or 4 arrows then position the nock so cockfeather is out ? I purchased the Lw jig and i'm fletching 3 120. any help to understand the cockfeather would be much appreciated. Q: I'm new to making my arrows and not sure exactly what I need to order for offset fletching for recurve bows. The manufacture suggests: "Cat #1006 Straight Jig & R.H. Clamp: includes standard nock receiver and right helical clamp. (Preferred by the traditional shooter)". How does this cross-reference to your product numbers? Answer this question 2 answers A: The jigs themselves are set up for either straight, left, or right. This is in reference to the clamp and the indexer; the base is always the same. There is no one combination that is universally accepted. Everyone has their own preference. For what you are describing you would want to have a RW clamp and a straight indexer. Answered on 10/12/2012 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery A: If you order the Bitzenburger Arrow Fletcher from Three Rivers you have three choices. Those choices all include the standard jig with either straight, left helical or right helical clamps. So you will get everything you need to fletch your arrows the way you want. If you want straight or only slight offset then order the straight clamp. The straight clamp works with either right or left wing feathers. If you want helical, you need to decide if you want to use right or left wing feathers. There's no difference in arrow flight between right and left feathers. If you order the right hand clamp your jig will come with the correct clamp and indexer to do the job etc. I think most traditional hunters use a helical clamp because it causes the arrow to rotate during flight which helps an arrow with broadhead attached to fly better. Q: What jig should I get, straight, right or left if I need to fletch left wings with a slight 5 degree offset? Does the straight clamp allow for reasonable offset? Answer this question 4 answers A: The left and right wing jigs are helical, so if you're not interested in helical, then you would want the straight clamp. You can find the jigs documentation online at: http://www.bitzenburger.com/Operating%20Instructions.html. I haven't fletched with the straight jig and the adjustments are not calibrated in degrees, buts there seems to be a fair amount of offset adjustment available. The maximum degree offset will probably be limited more by the shaft size and fletching length, then adjustment of the jig. The clamp will affect the amount of helical. In order to get LW indexer with the straight clamp you will need to order a LW jig with a new clamp, or a straight jig and a LW indexer. Answered on 7/25/2012 by Anonymous A: Pat, Sorry I haven't replied sooner, but I have been busy. If you are fletching left wing feathers then you need a left wing clamp. This clamp allows you do straight fletch to adjust the offset and it does have a good offset. I bought a helical right clamp since I will be shooting broadheads. The only difference is in the clamp you will get, the frame adjusts the angle of the clamp using the two dials you see on the side. The magnet that holds the clamp to the frame is very powerful and allows for firm placement on the arrow. It is a very nice jig and I recommend buying it. I hope this helps you make your decision. Q: Greetings, There is a lot of hawks in my area and i'm always finding random feathers scattered about in the fields and woods around here; was thinking of making my own fletchings from them, but considering i'm going to be finding both left and right wing feathers would a straight model work for both? Or would i need to have both the left and right wing models? Also as a right handed shooter will it make much a difference whether i choose to make right or left wing helix fletchings for my arrows? Answer this question 2 answers A: A straight model would work for both left and right wing feathers, you would just do an right or left off set with the straight clamp. If you were wanting to do a left or right helical then you would need to match the right wing or left wing clamp to the correct wing feather to get the correct helical and flight that you would want. As for right helical left helical, as long as the bow is set up properly it should not matter if you shoot left or right wing feathers. The last time I knew most hawks were protected and even having just some feathers in your possession is illegal. I would check before picking them up and putting them on some arrows. Q: Hello, I'm looking to start building my re-fletching my own arrows.. I'm a bow hunter and I shoot a Left handed bow... I have experimented with longer and shorter fletcting and staight VS. helix set ups... and feathers VS plastic etc.... Tired of paying someone else to re-fletch.. Answer this question 1 answer A: You will want to use feathers. They will give you better arrow flight than vanes. LW or RW will not matter. You just need to make sure that everything is the same for them to work properly. The length of the feather is a personal preference. More feather will give you a better recovery time.
