      A:

We only receive it in the blocks. It could be broken up and made into nocks, points, bow tips, etc.

  • Q:

Is this piece of horn solid throughout or is it porous under the outer dark layer?

      A:

The horn blocks are solid. There may be some imperfections in it due to the way it grows but it is not common.

  • Q:

Will I have to flatten my Bamboo backing before i glue on the horn or can it go on the crown of the Bamboo.

      A:

You can flatten the bamboo a little bit if you are just doing a limb tip. If you are doing the whole bow you will need to crown the horn.

  • Q:

um ok so what are the projects u can use a horn block for and can i file one side down and affix it to a wooden handle like a hatchet

      A:

I do not know that I would recommend the hatchet idea. This is commonly used for reinforcing limb tips or decoration of various items. It can also be used for nocks or points.

  • Q:

I want to consider the horn blocks. The question I have is.. Is one block going to be sufficient for one bow. Or would you recommend two blocks? I would imagine if the block is thick enough it might be easy enough to cut in half with the band saw.

      A:

Depends on how you are going to use the horn block. If it will just be an accent then you may be able to get 3 or 4 bows out of it. If it is going to be a main piece in the riser then you may need 2 or 3 blocks.
