    What is the advantage or disadvantage of using a plastic or phenolic pressure stip instead of one made of thin sheet metal? How thick is this phenloic strip? Will it require extra pressure in the form?

      A:

      The phenolic pressure strip is 78-79 inches in length, 2 inches in width and 1/16 of an inch on thickness. Some of the advantages of using phenolic is that the glue does not stick to it as bad and it's a lot easier to clean up. It applies even pressure across the entire limb and greatly reduces the dome effect that you can get with the thin metal strapping.

      A:

      The Phenolic Pressure Strip does not get put into the bow, but when you are gluing the bow up it is put over the back of the bow to keep the materials in place, as it applies equal pressure over the entire length of the bow. As for mounting phenolic tips, use Kwick-It Blue (item #4451X).
