  • Q:

Your catalog says "Use 3/8" drill", but online it says use 5/16" drill bit,are there different sizes ?

    • A:

Use the 'N' bit its diameter is .3020 mm a 5/16" bit has a diameter of .3125 mm. It's a small difference but some SAE bit manufacturers don't have good quality control and can some times be even larger than the nominal .3125 mm causing a loose fit.
From personal experience drill an extra 1/8" for a total depth of 1/2" if you can, to take into account the insert seating and flange spreading.

      A:

No they are not different sizes. The holes are suppose to be 5/16 wide and 3/8 deep.

  • Q:

I have a riser with embedded veins of micarta. Will the denser micarta allow the end of the bushing to flare like in wood?
Asked on 1/29/2011 by Aging Archer from Aurora, CO

      A:

You will want to try to off set these inserts because they will not flare out on the Phenolic accents. If you can not off set them you can still use them just make sure to use some high strength epoxy for good bond.
