Q: Does putting more than two on the bow help to silence it more? Asked on 4/16/2013 by Dogdaze from Ventura county, Ca Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: If you were to install two pairs of these on the string it will help the noise. I would recommend to go with the Musk Ox or Quiet Wool silencers because they will dampen the string vibration a lot more than the fur silencers. Answered on 4/17/2013 by Art from 3Rivers Archery A: Two are recommended and almost all of these sell by the 2. A nice even dampening of the string is best. I got the otter fur ones because they are more traditional. However, if you are truly trying to silence your bow, I would recommend the rubber cat whiskers. If it is a takedown, I would also recommend that you put some kind of gasket where the limbs touch the riser. If it is still making too much noise, make sure that your brace height is at the correct level. -Cole Answered on 4/16/2013 by Anonymous A: Yes, two sets will help. Put them about 4 inches apart. Q: Any recommendations on how far from the bow tips the silencers need to be installed? I have a 68" longbow. Thank you. Asked on 5/25/2012 by abenc103 from NC Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: I have intalled mine , one to 8" to my longbow's upper limb and the other to 12" the lower limb, These are very effective and easy to install ! Answered on 2/7/2013 by J-C from 3-Rivières,Quebec,Canada A: I normally put mine 10" to 12" from the tips. You can actually change the performance of the bow by the location. I recommend trying a few different spots to find where they will work the best for you. Answered on 5/25/2012 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
Q: When wet do they slow the bow string? Asked on 1/3/2012 by mike from maryland Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: When these get wet you will not see a difference in the arrow speed. Answered on 1/4/2012 by Art from 3Rivers Archery A: Mike, IMO I have never noticed any negligible difference in speed from any of my bows while having wet otter fur silencers on. In fact I prefer them to beaver silencers or yarn type. The decrease in noise they provide, I feel is better than all others for the traditional archer. Answered on 2/28/2012 by heartrnurse from Lehigh Acres, FL A: No these are water-proof, otter hair has oils in it that make it water-proof so that in the winter or cold weather the otters don't freeze to death from being wet. Q: Aren't "otters" endangered and unlawful to kill or trade in in the US? Am I right in assuming this is something other than sea otter fur, and if so what? Thanks. Asked on 9/14/2011 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: All of our otter fur comes from New York State Otters. They are legally trapped and tagged and are not an endangered species. Answered on 9/19/2011 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery A: Yes, you are right in assuming this is something other than sea otter fur - it comes from river otters. A different species. Abundant and not endangered at all. Answered on 11/17/2011 by Smithhammer from Idaho

Q: Do i install these before I string my bow? or after? Asked on 12/28/2010 by Nancy the Newbie Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: install before stringing the bow. use a nail on a wall or something similar to hook your bow string to ,this way you can keep tension on the string and split the string in half for starting the silencer and ending. very simple an effective. Answered on 12/29/2010 by Kevin Crabb from Colorado and Texas A: You would install these before you string your bow. Answered on 1/28/2011 by Anonymous
Q: How well do these work for recurves with heavier poundages? Would you need to use more than one set for a 95 lb bow? Asked on 11/20/2010 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: It really depends on how much noise you are getting out of the bow. It wouldn't hurt to have an extra set on hand in case you need it, but I would mess around with the brace height of the bow to see if you can quiet it down after having one set of Otter Fur string silencers on the bow. Q: DO I NEED TO BUY ANY SPECIAL STRING TO INSTALL THIS ITEM? Asked on 8/19/2010 by CRAIG from VA Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: A special string is not required, but string silencers are easier to put into a Flemish twist string as it is twisted upon itself and holds the silencer in-place.
