      A:

You could but they are for a recurve to stop the string from hitting the limbs, that doesn't happen on a longbow

  • Q:

I am wondering what the height dimensions are on this. I am trying to figure out exactly where they will be mounted on my limb so I know if i can unstring my bow or not. So how tall are they from flat part that will be adhered to the limb to the top part that the string touches? Thank you!

Does anyone know if I'll have problems unstringing my Hoyt Dorado if I put these things on my limbs?

      A:

These can make it a bit more difficult to unstring, but normally they are not a problem.

Would these work on Oneida bows?

      A:

You can mount these onto an Oneida, but they generate so much noise I do not know how much it would help to reduce the noise.

      A:

Anything that you add to the limbs or the string will effect the speed of the arrow. You will not notice a dramatic drop in velocity with these. Maybe only a foot per second or so.

      A:

these will not effect the speed of the bow because they are placed where the the string stops and where the limb moves very minimal.

  • Q:

Do these reduce limb and string noise enough to be used by themselves, or will I still want to use my other string silencers? The PA Whitetail Season is approacing quickly, so I'm eager for an answer!

Doug I think you will still need something on the string like slugs or whiskers but I don't know for sure.

Just placed an order for some but after thinking about it... I was just wondering if the Stiktamer gets in the way when trying to string and un-string your bow?

I have not tried to string or unstring a bow with the Stiktamers on. It looks like it might. It would depend on the size of your string loops.

Answered on 5/17/2011 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
    • A:

In no way does the stiktamer hinder the stringing or un-stringing of the bow. Most guys use a stringer which is in contact on the other side of the limb.

    • A:

Considering where these are placed I would say they shouldn't cause a problem with unstringing your bow. They should however have an added bonus of acting like a string keeper as well as the listed uses of it.

I found that they work as advertised, BUT also found that after repeated unstringing my recurve, the upper string loop put too much pressure on the Stiktamer causing it to tear away from the limb. They were installed according to instructions. A bow stringer does not affect them, they just keep the string taught when unstrung causing eventual failure to stay attached to the limb. If you leave your bow strung, they work just fine.
