  • Q:

The product description states this is designed for laminated longbows. I have purchased a medieval style longbow @ 60lbs. Will this work with my longbow?

      A:

This should work with your Medieval longbow. It will depend on how big the tips are and how long the bow is.

      A:

I think this would work for your longbow. This stringer works so well because of the rubber pressure plate...it avoids putting pressure on the string notches. I personally would stay away from stringers that have the leather pocket on both ends instead of the pressure plate, because those cause stress on the bow's string notches.

  • Q:

Will this stringer work on bows of 100# or more?
    Asked on 2/20/2012 by Anonymous

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

We only recommend these stringers up to 80#. If you would like a string for a bow that is 100+ pounds, we can special order a heavy duty version.

  • Q:

I have a takedown recurve and my friend bought me this stringer not knowing it is for longbows. If I use this stringer on my recurve will my limbs become twisted of will my bow be damaged in anyway?

      A:

No, it will not damage your limbs. It will just be a little harder to string the bow.

  • Q:

Could you use this bow stringer on a recurve?
    Asked on 8/11/2011 by Anonymous

      A:

You could but it is recommend that you use the recurve version for recurves. The limb pockets are designed differently.

  • Q:

what is to keep the limb pocket from slipping off the end of the bow when you pull the bow up to string it?

      A:

The end of the bow will not slip out of the pocket if it is done properly. If you are having any problems take a look at our YouTube video or give us a call at 1-866-587-9501.

    • A:

I was worried about that also at first. The pressure of the bow bending itself, keeps it from sliding. I have never had a problem with it. Amazingly how simple it is to adjust to any size bow by simple sliding the hard plastic grip. I might add that all my bows have a flat belly. Not sure how it would work on english long bow with rounded limbs. I purchased one from rudderbows and the leather pockets tore like cheap paper the first time I used it. This one 3rivers sells has tough plastic grip, very well made.

The Longbow limbsave stringer we have been using around the shop is 78" long from end of cup opening to bottom of rubber limb grip.
