    My friend just bought a recurve bow recently and this style rest was already installed. When I shot the bow, the bow string swayed from left to right dramatically slapping me in both my face and wrist. I'm not sure what could be causing this, could it be the rest? I shoot three fingers under while he shoots two under, one over and he claims it's not doing that motion when he fires the bow but I can still see it when he shoots it.

      A:

      It sounds like you may be plucking the string on your release. Plucking the string on release it will cause the string to snap back the opposite direction especially on lighter bows. If you were to tell yourself to touch your shoulder upon release so that your hand comes straight back this will allow a smooth clean release. The flipper rest will not be an issue in this situation.       You may get a lot of answers here but this is from a guy like yourself.
      Lacking in the Archery expertise.
      The are rests for the arrow. You attach them to the bow. They are
      essential to our Archery program at a Summer camp.

      Rests and plates give you a better surface to shoot the arrow from. Having some sort of a material there will make the entire set up more forgiving and will reduce wear and tear on the arrows.

    I'm not sure which orientation of the flip rest should be used over the plunger hole. Should the arm point down toward the shelf (so that the words "Dura Flip" are upside down) or forward in the direction of the shooting arrow? Thanks!

      The flip rest should have the arm pointing forward and away from the bow. The arrow will set on the arm only.

      The plunger hole is for a plunger to be able to be installed with the rest. The plunger pushes the arrow farther away or closer to center to help to tune the bow to the arrow. It can help to compensate for an arrow that is too weak.

  • Q:

    I'm not certain how to install this rest on a 3 Rivers Archery Youth Recurve Bow. Does it adhere to the flat shelf as many rest installation videos do (it doesn't fit there), or does it install on the side where a plate would normally go (aligning with circle on bow)? What keeps the notch that protrudes from the rest from interfering with the feathers of the arrow? Thanks.

      A:

      Install the Dura Flip rest over the plunger hole in the riser. The notch that hooks up to keep the arrow on the rest will not interfer with the feathers as feathers lay flat when they come into contact with any thing, and that is one reason they are superior to vanes.
