  • Q:

I have a 2014 Bear Grizzly 58" 50# draw and need a replacement string. What size and type is best for this bow. BTW, it is compatible with the fast flight 97 strings.
Also, I've burnt through two strings in a year and wondered if there is something wrong with the bow. I do shoot a lot, but the strings are fraying right at the bow end. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

No this bow is not fast flight or D97 compatible. You can only use a dacron bowstring. If you strings are failing in the loop then you need to go over the string groves with a round file. If it is a flemish string and its in the first 8'' past the loop, its the tag ends of the string and is perfectly fine

      Lumberjack:
The standard Grizzly is NOT fast flight capable, unless you have reinforced the tips with a phenolic overlay or other means.
If this is the case, I would check the string grooves to make sure they are filed and sanded smooth. Keep the entire string well waxed, (I wax mine after every target session).
      The 58" Grizzly uses a 54" string and runs at a 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 brace height.
I have used the 3 Rivers and Hunters Niche D97 strings and had long life and good success, on f/f capable bows.

We do not carry the Dean 97 and 44 inch, you do not want this string for that bow. You need a be 50 Flemish Dacron string.

      A:

The rule of thumb is 3" shorter for a longbow and 4" shorter for a recurve for the AMO listed.

  • Q:

I recently purchased the Samick Journey with 40# and 60# limbs. I heard that it will handle a fast flight string. Will the limbs also handle the D97 string as well? Does the D97 have even less stretch then the fast flight string? The thing is, I'm a little leary of useing those strings. I don't want to put excessive tension of the limb tips especially the 60# limbs. Which one of the two would put the least amount of pressure on the tips? What would you recomend?

      A:

Yes, it will handle D97. The D97 is suppose to have less creep. I would recommend the FastFlight material.

Yes, we have D97 Flemish Strings (Item #4510X) and we do ship internationally.
Please make sure that the Grizzly is fast flight compatible. The new Super Grizzly's are fast flight compatible, but the standard Bear Grizzly is not.
