  • Q:

Just ordered a pair of these. Is there a good rule of thumb on where to install them on the string? I have a Martin Mamba 55@28 with FF Flemish. Thanks.

We place the silencers 10 to 12 inches from the end of the loop on the string depending on the effect of the silencers have on the bow.

I have always put my silencers half way between nock point and end of limb or string. Don't secure them real well till you shoot a couple of times. May have to slide them a bit. But half way point is normally a good place to start.

a few inches below where the string contacts the limb when strung should do fine for you.

  • Q:

Can these silencers be installed on a fast flight string, or do you recommend a different type of silencer for fast flight strings?

Yes, these can be mounted on fast flight strings. These are really good silencers and do a great job.

      A:

Mine are installed on a fast flight string and seem to work very well. With that said, this is my first long bow and my first fast flight string. My other bow is a recurve and not built for fast flight.
I'm a semi-new archer (approx 6 years) and only had my recurve for the longest time, so my knowledge of the various silencers and strings isn't very vast. I apologize.
I hope this helped in some way

do you think these would work in a recurve crossbow (Excalibur@ 260lb draw)

      A:

Yes, silencers work on recurve crossbows. I had an Excalibur several years ago complete with silencers, wouldn’t be without them. These muskox silencers are the nicest I have owned. Are they too nice to be set up for the beating they will take on your Excalibur,,,,,

  • Q:

I bought these and they work fine but every time Shoot a bunch of little fibers from the silencer fly off and fall like rain. also it seems like a few of the strands(from the silencer)are coming out of one side of the silencer. I have a normal 56" Fred bear fast flight string. Did I install them incorrectly? I followed the instructions on the video and I still don't get it.

This is one of the most durable hair silencers. Ive never put them in a compound but as long as their installed properly I don't think you will have any problem.

      A:

The Musk Ox string silencers are our #1 selling string silencer. It has great water shedding properties, effectively quiets the string and no loss in arrow speed. You can not ask for any thing better than that.

  • Q:

I purchased these for my longbow with fast flight string and installed them exactly as per the video but I'm having difficulty making them staying in place. They are also causing the sting to separate a few inches past the silencer on both sides even after being strung. Is this a problem with my string or did I install them incorrectly?

      A:

It sounds like you are using a endless loop string. You can have the gap when you use string silencers in a endless loop. A couple options you have are to put a slight twist in the string, or you can use some nylon serving material and tie the Musk Ox string silencers in place, this wont completely close the gap, but should help a lot. The string used in the YouTube video is a Flemish Twist string which works better for using string silencers.
