Q: The package comes with four so for recurves, is it two on the top and two on the bottom? Or does it come with four pieces because it can be used with compound bows that have two set of strings? After you try it you can fine tune it by moving the silencers a little one way or another. I start with having the silencers about 6" from the tips of the bow. Q: How do these silencers actually increase the speed of a bow? I find that a little hard to believe. Asked on 6/23/2012 by Tay from Dallas, TX Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: I can't confirm that these actually increase the speed of your bow. I got them for ease of installation and their simplicity. I was using the Puff Yarn silencers before and I was always pulling beggars lice out of them and they didn't shed water very well. I could see where they might increase the speed a little depending on what you are currently using. They are condiserably smaller than the Puff Yarn silencers they replaced plus the Puff Yarn silencers had beggars lice embedded in some the yarn that increased their weight and resistance. I am using them on my longbow and have been happy with them, but I didn't buy them hoping they would increase my bow speed. Hope this helps out! Good Luck! Take a piece of small diameter wire, and go through the string loop. Run the ends of the wire through the hole in the center of the bow jax, and pull the wire and string through using a pair of pliers. Reinstall string, and adjust where needed.
