  • Q:

Is 45# km plenty for deer
Asked on 10/22/2014 by Slayer from Mn

    • A:

Yes! I recently shot a 270# boar hog with a 47# bow that is 48 inches. He made it about 40 yds. Deer will be no problem. The KM will be faster with the same weight arrow. By the way... I won't hunt with an arrow that is less than 500 grains total weight. Also, I like 1" four blade cut on contact broadheads, but that's just a personal preferecne.

You should check your local hunting regulations, most of the mid-West is 30# minimum. Some parts are 40-45# minimum though.

  • Q:

I have been looking for a good recurve to use for hunting that has at least a 60# pull. I do a lot of Stand, ground blind , and spot and stalk hunting. I need a small light weight bow but with me having a 28" draw I don't want to over stress the bow cuz i do shoot alot. Main thing is with a 28" draw with the KM at 60#'s would this be good choice for my situation and still last a long time. If not what are some other recommendations.

  • Q:

Hello 3Rivers! I'm currently shooting a 45# 62" recurve, I'm planning on purchasing this bow for Christmas, and I want to move up to 50#. I've tried shooting 50# on a 62" recurve, and it's fine, however, will the 10" difference in size drastically affect the strength it requires to draw 50# on the Kodiak Magnum? Thank you for your reply!

It will not be as smooth drawing, but it will be the same amount of weight. Depending upon how long your draw is, that could be a factor. A shorter bow will hit 'stack' (feels like hitting a wall) much sooner than a longer bow. If your draw is 28" or less, you should be fine though.

  • Q:

I am a 5'4" tall gal, mid-aged, in shape. I am novice, wants to go bow hunting. My draw length is 27.5. I am unsure what lenght I should get my bow. I like the Kodiak Magnum but am open to other suggestions. Thank you.

      A:

With that long of a draw length I would recommend getting something a little longer than the Magnum. Something closer to the 58" to 62" range would be more forgiving for you to shoot. Make sure to check with your local game laws on poundage minimums before ordering the bow.

  • Q:

Can I shoot three fingers under with my kodiak magnum

      A:

Yes, you can shoot 3 under with the Magnum. The only side effect is that the bow may make a bit more noise. You should easily be able to remedy the extra sound with a good set of silencers.

  • Q:

Can a b-50 Flemish string be used with this bow? If not, what would be the optimum string to use on this bow? I have 55# Kodiak Magnum with a 28 inch draw.

      A:

Depending on the year, the Magnum is capable of using a high performance string. You could use the fast flight or Lazer Strings to get a little more performance out of the bow.

Answered on 4/20/2011 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
    • A:

Since the bow is designed for the Dynaflight 97 Flemish Twist I would say yes as the B-50 would be more gentle on the bow string notches.

  • Q:

What is the string length ?

      A:

On Bear recurve bows the string should be 4" shorter than the bow. The string for the Magnum should be 48".
