  • Q:

the info on this bow says do not draw past 28" my draw is 29" is that a problem? can I still use this bow without altering my anchor?

      A:

The bow is not recommended for draw lengths longer than 28". So it wouldn't be a good idea with your current draw length. You would need to shorten your anchor point.

  • Q:

I purchased this bow for my daughters to use at SCA events for target shooting contests. I have a concern on bracing height of the bow. We used the pre-finished wooden shafts, and trimmed them down to fit my daughters'(luckily they are both the same)draw length. In test shooting, the bow shoots smoothly, but seems as if it is hitting my wrist at the end of the shot, usually from the base of my hand to about 1" back...very small area. I am going to have them try it, but I was wondering if you could suggest a proper brace height for this bow. I understand the concept of twisting the string to increase the brace height, but I don't want to over-do it and make the bow harder to shoot for them, or over stress the limbs of the bow. Thanks for the info!

It does sound like the brace height is too low. That type of bow will normally have a lower brace height somewhere between 6" and 7". I would recommend raising the brace height by a 1/4" or 1/2" at a time until the string stops hitting your bow hand and wrist. If the string is hitting your arm it should be at least 2" to 3" up your forearm.

      A:

You will need more poundage if you are looking to hunt. Check with your local DNR for weight limits on bows. This is more for target shooting or SCA events.

Both bows look very much alike, the main difference is the poundage. The war bow is 30-35# while the Huntsman bow is 45-50#.

is this a good youth bow age 13

      A:

The Medieval war bow is 6 feet tall, so may be a little big for your 13 year old (depending how tall they are) but the weight is a good fit. If they are under 5' 6" I would go with a shorter bow, but otherwise it should be good.
