Hey SkinnySorry, i haven't checked arrow speed in 25 years nor do i know exact weight of the cedar arrows i shoot. I shoot this bow in 55# weight at 28" with cedar arrows spined for 55 - 60, Zwickey Black diamond Delta broadheads (glue on) and feather fletching. It is quiet, has good trajectory and penetration for shots inside 25 yards. That's all i am concerned with.. RN

We did a test previously on this bow. The tests concluded with a 51.2# @28 Super Kodiak and a 425 grain arrow, the arrow speed was 190.4 FPS. With a heavier arrow and a lighter I would expect it to be just a little slower than that.

It is going to be mostly personal preference between the 3. All of them are American made recurves that have very good performance. The biggest differences will be the colors and the lengths.

I would recomend the Predator. I have had three different Martins and they
all require an arm guard. They are the only brand of bow that I have had
that problem with. My favorite bow is the Super Kodiak Bear recurve.

While I can't speak for the other bows, the super kodiak is simply fantastic to hold and draw. I have long monkey arms with a good 29-30" draw and my 65# super kodiak soaks it all up. No stacking from what I've discovered thus far. Originally I was after a PSE Ghost but once I had a chance to play with the SK, it was an obvious choice. Hope that helps some.

A:
There is no published max draw length for this bow. I would say it will be comfortable to shoot for up to a 30 draw length.

Q:
Would this bow work well for someone with a 28" draw length or would a shorter bow be appropriate? I pulled back a super magnum and it felt good even though it was so short. At 55# i could hold 8 seconds easily and think i probably could with 60# too although i could tell i was shaking a bit which i tend to do on any resistance. should i go with less weight as a beginner or expect the shaking to improve as i practice and get the heavier weight?

A:
It is not about how long you can hold the bow on the first shot. You want to look at how long you can hold the bow on the 50th shot. The longer bow will be easier and more comfortable to shoot. The Super K is a great bow. I would not recommend getting it in 60# unless you are comfortable handling the extra weight.

Q:
Is this bow hard to maintain? Aren't recurve bows more work to take care of than lomgbows? And I heard they break more easily than longbows

A:
There will not be any more work required to maintain one or the other. Bows that are backed with fiberglass tend to be very durable. Why a bow breaks will be attributed to the construction of bow and its operator, not to whether it was a longbow or a recurve. As long as you use a stringer and do not lean the bow in a corner you should be fine. Give us a call at 1-866-587-9501 and we can walk you through general do's and don'ts of bow maintenance.

I use carbon Gold tip 35/55 expedition arrows with this bow (50# at 28"),And they fly perfect. You might have to try a few different lenghts or weights to get the arrow flight you are looking for. I use 125 grain tips. I believe carbon is the way to go, but wood is very cool as well!
