  • Q:

Can you remove the old serving and put new serving on? I have some old strings that are fine except for worn out serving.

what diameter of serving material should be used on a 3 bundle 15 strand Dacron B-50 flemish twist string? I use wooden arrows out of my 50# and 55# recurves.

I all comes down to what nock's that you are going to put on your shafts. If you go with the Classic Index Nocks you will want to use a serving diameter of .021-.024. Now with the Snap Nocks you are going to go smaller, say .018 because of their tighter throat.

      A:

That all depends on the inside size of your arrow nock and how much "press" or "clinch" you want as you release your arrow. When I shoot cedar arrows I use "Classic" nocks which have a rather large slot, so I am apt to use .021" or .024/5 diameter braided polyester serving. With carbon arrows I use the smallest .018 diameter serving for a good fit.
