    My grandson, age 13 is competent with a compound bow and has tried several times to build a traditional bow from scratch with little success. Is this a book that would help him build his own bow, would another volume be better for a rank beginner, or would you have other suggestions?

      I would recommend that you get a movie. Rattlestick with Gary Davis is the best bow building movie that we have.

      This would be a great book to jump start the beginning bow builder. The other volumes will go into more detail and different types of bows.
