Q: Can you tell me whether I should purchase a right-wing or left-wing fletching jig. I shoot right handed. My understanding is I would buy a left-wing jig. Is that correct? Appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you. Asked on 8/11/2012 by Steve from Pennsylvania Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: It depends on the type of feathers you will be using: you need a left wing jig for left wing feathers, and a right wing jig for right wing feathers. Whether you are right or left-handed does not make a difference; any archer can use either left or right winged feathers. Personally, I use left wing. Just as long as you have the corresponding jig and feathers, you will be fine. Answered on 8/11/2012 by Anonymous A: It does not matter I have shot both could tell no difference so it's your preference. I currently shoot right handed with right helix jig and shoot fine.. Only thing I get is when goto range how nice arrows look. (grin) nothing like making your own @ Answered on 8/12/2012 by Anonymous A: The right and left feathers modify which direction the arrows spin after they are released. I purchased the left-wing jig for the left-wing feathers and also shoot right handed. So far it has worked well. It will take a few tries to get the jig set up effectively. I'd also suggest buying the fletching tape, as it holds the feathers on very well. I hope this helps you in your decision. Answered on 8/11/2012 by Anonymous A: It actually doesn't matter which one you go with. I'm right handed and I use right wing fletching. I've heard of people doing the opposite as well though. It seems like it's more preferance than anything else. Answered on 8/13/2012 by Traditional Only from Southern California A: It will be personal preference which one you choose. Neither orientation will help you to get better arrow flight. Answered on 8/14/2012 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
Q: Hello, can it do a "X" style four feathered fletch or only the "+" style or both? Asked on 4/1/2012 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: I am not entirely sure what you are referring to with the X style and the + style. With 4 fletch there is a 90° and there is a 75° by 105°. The Martin Jig is only capable of doing the 90°. If you would like the option to do both you would need either a Bitzenburger or a BPE Pro Fletcher. Q: I am new to archery and I need to buy a fletching jig. I don't know which J-8 model I need, left, right or straight. Anyways, left, right and straight, does that refer to just the clamp that comes with the base or the base itself. If I get the "straight" will this work with either left or right feathers? And when buying feathers should I specify what J-8 model I have in terms of left, right or straight. Thanks. Oh, one more thing, once I know what to buy or order, where do I find the glue(fletchtight) so I can include it too? Thanks again. Sorry, but just one more question. Does this J-8 jig allow for any 2 to 3 degrees ofsetting? Asked on 3/1/2012 by tony from Toronto, Ont. Canada Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: You can shoot left, right, or straight, just do not mix the different wings on the same arrow. Left wing is still the most popular. The clamp is what determines left, right, or straight, the base is the same for all. If you get Straight, you can use Left or Right Wing feathers with it. You can adjust for up to a 15 degree offset. Q: Will this work well with blazer 2 inch vanes? Asked on 6/13/2011 by Rocky from Hawaii Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: Yes this jig will work with 2'' Vanes. Answered on 6/14/2011 by Art from 3Rivers Archery A: I use feathers, not vanes. However, I see no reason why it would not work great for your 2 inch vanes, and maybe easier than with my 5 inch feathers - a little easier to align the vane to the shaft.
