You can check carbon and aluminum with it; I do not know how much that will help. Carbon and aluminum come prespined. Wood does to, but, there is a little bit of a tolerance. Wood is measured in 5# increments. This can be used to match wooden arrows so that you can get a dozen that are even closer in spine. The carbon and the aluminum will be the same everytime. And they have a different recovery rate than wood so, they need to be measured under different parameters.
