what size would fit on the heavy hunters? or should i use gold tips bushing like this?
Asked on 4/3/2013 by The Black Arrow from Arizona City, AZ

      A:

The Heavy Hunters use the standard Gold Tip inside diameter. These unibushings will not have the same outside diameter of the shaft though.

If you have Easton shafts, there should be a 4 digit number on them, i.e.
2216, 2117 or something like that. Order the UNI bushing that has the same
number (size). Use the Easton super nock with your aluminium arrows.

  • Q:

I am just getting into uni-bushings and their special nocks. Do you use hot melt or fletching glue to install the bushings? How do you remove the bushings? Are the nocks used with uni-bushings glued into the uni-bushing or just pressed in? How do you remove the nocks so as not to damage them? Thanks, Mike Johnson

      A:

You can use fletching glue to install them. I will normally use a drop of super glue. Hot melt can damage carbon shafts and is not recommended. The nocks will be friction fit inside the uni bushings.

The nocks are just pushed in and they stay with friction, I've shot arrows
hundreds of times without them coming out. You could glue them to make them
super-secure (unglued nocks will fly out if the arrow hits a had object and
the shock travels up the arrow shaft).

The uni-bushings are much like the point/broadhead inserts that are glued in
at the other end of the shaft. Use whatever glue you would use for the point
inserts to achieve the bond strength and reversibility you prefer. Epoxy,
hot melt, fletching glue and super glue have all been used. The nocks are
typical push-in, pull-out style that can rotate. This is my favorite nock
      system on the market.

I have been using hot melt but have had some problems melting the arrow wraps when I put the heat to it. I just got a tip from a compound guy, he uses original super glue. He says it will detach if heated.

I would recommend a 2 part epoxy or a super glue like Beyond Bond.

Any two part epoxy will work.

Hot melt or one of the super-glues will work, but I prefer marine grade
epoxy. Removal will be difficult with the epoxy.

If you want to make them permanent you can use any liquid or gel adhesive
you would use on regular point inserts. If you want to make them removable
you can use PTFE tape/teflon tape or hot melt adhesive.
