  • Q:

I currently shoot a 500 spine axis arrow with standard insert. By
using this brass insert and increasing the arrow front weight, should I change my arrow spine to 400. I understand using a 500 spine arrow for a 100 grain broadhead, that I should use a 400 spine arrow for a 125 grain broadhead. Is this the same?

Check out three river dynamic spine calculator on their website. That will het you experiment with different combinations.

      A:

With the brass insert you should be able to go up a spine. But as to the exact point weight, you will need to do some tuning to find what weight will make the arrow fly the best.

      A:

I am not familiar with RC epoxies at all. I recommend a two part epoxy that will bond to carbon and brass and has a 24 hour cure time. The epoxy is all that holds these inserts in place.

  • Q:

can you use hot melt to install and if so how do you do so without leaving excess glue in the shaft
    thanks

      A:

No, you do not want to use hot melt with carbon arrows. The heat can damage the carbon and create weak spots. I recommend that you use the HIT epoxy that comes with the inserts. There is also another tool that comes with the inserts that will make sure that they are installed at the proper depth and the same tool will keep excess glue from being left in the shaft.

  • Q:

What is the actual outside diameter of these brass inserts?
Is it .204 so that they will fit the GT Kinetics?
    Thanks!

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The Easton Brass HIT Break-Off inserts are .2035" in outside diameter. I can not guarantee they will work, but does sound like they would fit in your GT Kinetics according to your measurements and ours.
