  • Q:

I have arrows that are .295 out side wall could I use the .300 and just put extra glue
Asked on 7/2/2014 by Bow hunter from Junction TX

      A:

Yes you could fill the void with epoxy. The insert of the arrow will center the collar on the arrow so you will not have to worry about centering it.

*No, You will need to pull the inserts out. Unless you are using hidden
inserts like deep-six or easton axes or full metal jacket. Hope this helps.*

You should install carbon collars before installing inserts to insure that the inserts will be set at proper depth inside the shaft.

which one do i get for gold tip byron ferguson heavy hunter 340 arrows? do these also work for aluminum arrows?
Asked on 6/24/2013 by jo the student from west covina, ca

      A:

The closest color that will fit is the letter I .344 this may be a touch loose but not bad. The Heavy hunters are very tough so I do not feel that these are needed on that shaft.

  • Q:

I use the Easton Axis FMJ 500 with my recurve. I am trying to get my point weight up to 175 grains. I cannot get a field point in the correct diameter and weight for these arrows so I started looking at the Easton BAR and the carbon collars. It appears with the BAR that I could use a 11/32 field point/broadhead. What size field point/broadhead would the carbon collars allow me to use as far as diameter?

You can use 11/32 points. But you will have a problem with targets with the
collars. I would stay with your FMJs and use eastonn brood head adapter
rings. Then use 5/16 heads. They work wonders.

I wish I could be more help as I'm really not sure of the correct measurements/ what broadhead fits etc etc.
I CAN tell u my setup and hopefully you C's. extrapolate needed info from there.
I'm using collars on my Beman MFX 500 ( I think they 500s at least. I'm in my car - parked! - as I'm typing this ). They cut to about 29.5" in length. I'm shooting Alaska Bowhunting Supply Ashby broadheads which weigh in at 315gr though idk the diameter of the post/threads.
I can say collars add about 5-6 grains in weight to front end of the arrows. They also add quite a bit of strength as I've noticed on the RARE errant shot that may hit the wall instead of the 10 ring :-))
I'd say if you can't get a definitive answer get a pack and give'em a try. They not expensive and the folks at 3 Rivers real easy to do biz with. They'll answer questions, dispense advice etc and accept returns if they do t work with your setup.
      Good luck !!
      Be well and thank you,
      John J. Montefusco Jr.

  • Q:

What size collar's would i require for a 400 and 320 spine ST Axis shaft without a wrap? Also would i be better using a 5/16 field point or sticking with a 9/32? Unsure if a lip is formed from the photo given the collar goes outside the shaft. Thanks.

  • Q:

For the carbon collar foot bushings (4920-3), does the tapered end go against the broadhead or the other way?

      A:

If you have the correct size of carbon collar for the carbon shafts your using the collar will only slide on the end of the
shaft one way. Once it is started on the shaft push it against the edge of your work bench to completely seat the collar
on the shaft. Now you are ready to install the insert into the shaft.

      A:

There is only one way for them to go on the shaft. And yes the taper will go against the broad head.
