Q: How many coats of acrylic are needed to get good coverage when cap dipping? I'm using acrylic paint (bought from an art supply store) on 5/16" shafts so the gasket holds the shaft quite tight and leaves very little paint behind on the shaft. I watched the video about cap-dipping and am following that method. However, I've applied about 18 coats and I can still see the grain of the shaft through the paint. Asked on 11/2/2012 by Nicholas from San Francisco, CA Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: It will depend on the paint used. Unless the paint is completely opaque you will not be able to cover up the wood grain. Answered on 11/3/2012 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
Q: I live in Spain Europa and i can`t get gasket lacquer shippt to me. is thear an uther lacquer or varnish, I can use with the Eco-dipper?? Sorry for my bad English. Asked on 10/18/2011 by Alec from Huelva Spain Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: You should be able to use just about any lacquer with the Eco-Dipper. You will just want to make sure that it is nice and thick so that it will give you a nice coat. Answered on 10/22/2011 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery A: Had the same problem here in Canada with ordering gasket lacquer. The problem is is that the thinner lacquers and stains run off the ecodipper before they coat your arrow completely. so i ordered it anyways and ill share my solution. get any polyurethane(i got marine grade polyurethane from a boat repair store) the thicker the better ask them to open the can. should look like syrup or close. then use the eco dipper on the edge of a high bench or table so that you feed your arrows through down wards. Shave your nocks and tips on all your arrows dip your first arrows 3 inches deep then feed through all the way till just the tip is out. Line your next arrows nock with the tip of the first and push the next one through.you dont have to dip the next 6 or so arrows because the cup one the ecodipper holds the polyurethane instead of dumping it back into the bucket.to handle the freshly coated arrow hanging, push the nock of the next through grabbing the wet ones tip.very fast 12 arrows= 5min Answered on 1/5/2012 by Jonny from kelowna,BC
