      A:

The taller and longer feathers. The shorter they will fly. Also is if you helical fletch the arrow will slow faster. I.e more wind resistance

  • Q:

Is fetching 3 feathers adequate to slow the arrow down or should I use 4 feathers per arrow?
Asked on 2/1/2013 by Tom from Illinois

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

It all depends on who much you want to slow the arrow down.

Answered on 2/4/2013 by Justin from 3Rivers Archery
    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

I find that 4 works better to slow the arrow. More resistance + more surface area creates more drag without any noticeable degradation in arrow flight.. Also make sure you have a nice helical. As tight as you can set your jig an still get good adhesion to the arrow when fetching.

Tom, It depends on what your going for. 3 is enough for a bow to shoot fast
and go a little farther but still at most half of what a regular arrow
would. 4 makes it very slow and diminishes distance to 1/3 regular arrow. I
hunt ducks, pheasants, etc. I use three because it is faster and goes farther
but 4 would be better for trick shooting and practice.

I used six on one arrow. It slows it down effectively, and I am still able
      to take squirrels within10-15 yards.

Depends on what your using the arrows for if your making fluflus so that you can shoot things out if the air I would go with 4 or 6 fletchings per arrow..

  • Q:

Can a Bitzenberger fletcher be used to fletch these flu flu feathers?
Asked on 2/1/2013 by Tom from Illinois

    5 answers

    • VERIFIED BUYER

      A:

It sure can. I have used these feathers on the standard 3 fletching
(120degrees) as well as the quad fletching setting (90degrees) and it
worked great on both! The clamp(s) easily takes this Flu Flu Fletching.

      A:

Yes, flu-flu feathers can be fleched to an arrow using the Bitzenberger rig. The longer feathers will simply lay down or fold back when you load the feather into the clamp. The feathers will spring right back up when you remove it from the clamp.

  • Q:

If I were to buy a 100 count of your flu flu precut feathers can you get more than one color in a bag of 100 count? I would love to have multiple colors but do not want 100 of each color and doing a count of 12 is not enough. Thank you for your time in this matter I hope to hear from you soon

      A:

We have talk about getting right wing flu flu in but don't have a high demand for them. One thing you can do is buy full length feathers an cut them. You will get more feather for your money that way.

The spiral wrap does not go has far as the 4'' flu flu. I wouldn't say one is any better than the other. It what ever you like the best.

  • Q:

Why would I want to use to Flu-Flu Feathers. What does it do that the other regular feathers won't do

      A:

Flu Flu feathers will slow down the arrow with the extra surface area. This is helpful when you are hunting for small game and do not wish to do too much damage.

Flu-Flu feathers are required in some states when shooting at birds in flight.

      A:

they enable you to shoot into the air w\o losing your arrow. Once the arrow loses a little speed the flu-flus flare out and act as a parachute. I shoot 4 to a shaft instead of the 3 I use with conventional fletching and I use a straight offset instead of a helical when gluing them to a shaft.
