Q:
What does size mean? What would be the difference between a 4 and 5.5? How would it affect the arrow in flight and accuracy and impact?

A:
The bigger the feather the faster the recovery time. If you have a good clean release you can get away with using a smaller feather like a 3 or 4''.

Q:
Has anyone every checked to see if there is a difference between LH and RH when it comes to points loosening? It seems to me that a LH feather will tend to loosen a point both in flight and on impact.

A:
I have personally shot both RW and LW feathers and can say that I have not seen a difference in how often the points come loose. I have found only two factors that cause a point to come out, arrow flight and the tolerance of the threads. Good arrow flight tends to lead to the point staying in a lot longer. Points with sloppier threads do not get the same level of grip and tend to come loose a little sooner as well. I recommend putting some string wax on the threads of your field point. It will not glue them into place but it will keep them there a little longer.

Q:
With a right hand helical fletch do I use right feathers?

A:
You will need to use a right wing feather for a right wing helical clamp.
Answered on 1/17/2011 by Anonymous
A:
Best to use Right Wing (vane) w/ right spin jig because the natural twist of feather (right wing) conforms much easier to the curviture of arrow shaft. Same goes for Left Wing in a left spin jig setup.

I am looking for 4 inch parabolic straight fletch feathers, what do you recommend.

A:
You can use either right wing or left wing feathers when you do a straight fletch, it is all in the clamp you use that makes it a straight fletch. I use left wing as there are more color options in left wing.
