  • Q:

Should I get right or left. And why-

I'm not an expert in fletching choices but I shoot a right handed/eyed hun
bow ( meaning that I pull with the right hand). I chose right fletching
because the flight would keep the arrow close to the strike plates when it
leaves. I am really happy with my fletching jig being "right".
      I hope that helps.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

It is a personal preference. You can shoot Right or Left wing feathers, you just need to make sure that you keep it consistent.

From what I understand, left or right helix has nothing to do with your
hand. You have to use left wing feathers for left helix, and right for
right because of the natural curvature of the wing. That being said,
usually you have more options in colors and styles for left handed
feathers, which is the case at 3 Rivers.
To be honest with you, the Bohning pro-class jig is not the easiest to use.
I was thinking about trying the Arizona EZ fletch.
      I hope this helps.

well, i first bought my jig with a 'straight' clamp. then i bought a 'left' clamp since i had been using left wing feathers all along. didn't really see much difference(am not a 'pro' shooter). did have a time getting the jig set to work with twist flights, that's about all i can say................

      Hello,
When you get a right or left wing jig, it is supposed to match the feathers
that you get. For example: If I were to get some left wing Flu-Flus, I will
also need a left wing jig. ( I would match the feathers to the jig in the
same way if I were to get right wing Flu-Flus )
The reason for this is. The jigs are set up with left wing, right wing, or
straight angles and they are set this way to follow the twist of the
feathers. All real feathers are taken from either the right wing of a bird,
or the left wing of a bird. On a bird's left wing, the feathers will have a
left twist. ( The same for the right wing )
If you don't match up the feathers with the same winged jig, it will twist
your feather against its natural twist. This will greatly hinder arrow
flight. Causing inaccuracy and extra drag. If properly matched, your arrow
will fly straight and true with a nice unhindered spin. ( Taking for
granted that your bow is set up right )
It doesn't matter what winged feather you shoot. It is just personal
preference. Some people raise the idea, that if you shoot right handed you
should shoot right winged feathers. So that the arrows are not hindered
when passing the bow. But this is holds not merit, because the arrow
doesn't start to spin until it is several feet in front of the bow.
So when choosing weather to go with right or left wing feathers, feel free
to choose either one. Just make sure that you match your fletching jig
      clamp with your feathers.
I hope this will help answer some of your questions.

What sizes of feathers/vanes will this accomodate?

The packaging doesn't say, but the clamp that came with it is 6" long, and
that's as long as the jig stand will accommodate. So, up to 6". I hope
      this helps.

This jig should be able to fletch vanes. I would imagine that any of the Bohning vanes should work in it just fine.

The BPE Pro Fletcher can do a 6 fletch. You should be able to use a 1/2" shaft as long as the nock fits in the indexer.

HOW DO YOU FLETCH BOLTS THAT HAVE FLAT NOCKS,CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT

      A:

All of the fletching jigs that we have require that you use a standard nock. I have heard of people making adapters for fletching jigs that allow you to fletch a shaft with the flat or half moon nocks, but we do not carry any. The other option would be to swap the nocks out to fletch them and then swap them back after wards. Give us a call at 1-866-587-9501 if you need anything else.

      A:

This is a good jig that will do almost any type of shaft out there. I have used it my self on wood, alum and carbon arrows with any problems. For the money it's hard to beat, about the only thing that would make it better is a stronger magnet.
