Can theses be used on a 50 in bow
Asked on 1/16/2013 by Dhan from Austin, texas

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The length of the bow will not matter. The weight of the bow is what you want to look at. These arrows are recommended for 35# bows and below.

  • Q:

I bought my step-son a 10 pound youth bow and 2 arrows while at an SCA event. I want to buy him this set of 6 arrows, but want to make sure if I get the 24" that they will be fine for his bow.

      dear Sir
If you have a 10 pound bow, the arrows need to be light and the spinage should be flexible, 3 rivers had arrows,of
timber that were fine for our bow of 25 l b but as soon as they were used in a slightly stronger draw length, they will flex and go to the left of the target, light aluminium may work better, by holding the arrow at the head and tail feel the stiffness in the arrow, go for soft?

The short answer is YES, they will work fine. A ten pound bow is a ligth
bow and needs a very soft shaft. These are about as light a spined arrow
as you will find. This is a case where "close enough" will be fine. A 10
pound spined arrow would be "a noodle" to be properly tuned. Any child
will have a blast fling these out of a youth bow.

      A:

If you are not sure about the draw length you need, just buy the longest
ones. It won't hurt anything if the arrow is "too long". Since arrows for
youth bows are typically not any specific spine weight, you just kind of
      get what you get.
Long answer short, yes, they will work fine.

They should be fine for the bow. The length of the arrow is going to be based on his draw length. These arrows will be long enough to use as he grows and gets a heavier pulling bow as well.

  • Q:

Hi. I just added the 3 Rivers Youth Recurve Bow and Arrow Set to my shopping cart. The arrows included are 26". When I went to add additional arrows, your youth wooden arrows are said to accomodate bows up to 35#. The bow I selected is 36#. Is there a discrepancy regarding the appropriate arrow size here? If the arrows will work for the 36# even though your description for the arrows say they go up to 35# should I stick with the 26" or go up to the 28"? Are both appropriate?

      A:

The 26 inch arrows should be fine for the 36 pound bow. Arrows are
rated by their "spine" weight. IN other words, their stiffness. The
longer the arrow the less stiff it will be, provided the weight of the
target tip remains the same. If the weight of the pull of the bow were
several pounds more, it would require a stiffer arrow, but one pound
will not make that much difference.

Unless your kid is drawing at the full 28" then the arrows don't need to be made for the full 36#. So you should be able to use either of the arrows.

Could this be used for the Titan bow?

      A:

The 3Rivers wood youth arrows can definitely be used with the Titan 60" youth recurve bow. The arrows are for shooting up to 35# bows and the Titan Pulls 30# at 28". *Just ensure that the arrow length is longer than the draw length of the archers, i.e., if the archer is drawing 24", the draw length of the arrow should be greater than 25". If the archer is drawing 28", (the draw length), then the arrow should be greater than 29".*
The length of the youth wood arrows are 28" maximum. *If the draw length of the archer is greater then 27", I would not recommend that he shoot 28" or shorter arrows.

what length arrow should a 4ft. 10 inch 10 year old girl use for the sentry youth recurve bow? I know longer is better, but not sure... please help!

      A:

A lot would depend on the aiming method she is using. If she is
using the point of the arrow for a sighting device, then order full
length arrows,(28 inches) as this will bring her point on distance down
to a managable number. The shorter the arrow the farther away the
target will have to be. Say she is shooting from ten yards and putting
the point of the arrow on the bulls eye and the arrow impacts eight
inches high. As the distance to the target increases the impact will be
increasingly lower until at a particular distance it will hit the
center of the target. Of course this is assuming that her form is
correct. Once the point on distance is determined, she can "gap shoot"
      at various distances.
If she is shooting instintively the extra length will not be a
detriment to accuracy, and you can always trim them later.

I recommend getting the 28". When in doubt just choose the longest arrows. If they are too long for her you can always cut them. If you get an arrow that is too short you can not make it longer.

      A:

The length of the arrow depends on her own draw length, once you know that
cut the arrows about an inch longer.
