Q: Me and my friend want to make a bow about 5' long and mabey around 30 pounds so how much sinew do u think we need? Asked on 6/22/2011 by Jalon the newbie from MT, US Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: I would recommend to purchase 20 pieces of the leg sinew to do 1 layer on a self bow. Remember once you start a layer of sinew on a self bow you will not want to stop until the layer is complete. Answered on 6/24/2011 by Art from 3Rivers Archery

Q: is it as strong as back sinew? Asked on 1/8/2011 by boynuzkıran from Turkey Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: Yes leg sinew and back sinew are just as strong as each other. Back sinew is recommended more for wrapping a splinter on a bow limb and tying feathers to an arrow. Leg sinew is more for sinew backing the bow because of its shorter length allowing you to stagger your bundles for strength. Answered on 1/13/2011 by Art from 3Rivers Archery
Q: I have already ordered a piece of back sinew and being a new bower I assumed one piece would be enough to back an entire bow but, when I recieved the package I realized I was wrong. My qustion is, I saw that the leg sinew is cheaper and I would like to order several of these, can I mix leg sinew and Back sinew on the same bow? Asked on 1/7/2011 by Dan from PA Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: you can mix the two sinews but you will want to cut the back sinew down to the length of the leg sinew for strength. Sinew backing a bow is the same as laying a brick wall you will want to stagger the bundles for strength. Typically back sinew is used for tying on feathers to an arrow because of its length. Q: i was wondering how many pieces of sinew do i need to back one bow about 6 and a half feet long? Asked on 1/4/2011 by ericraybon from ft bragg, nc Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: I would say 8-10 bags for an average length bow. This amount should be more than you need, but it is best to have too much on hand than not enough as you do not want to run out in the middle of the process.
