  • Q:

How much sinew does it take to make the webbing on a 14" medal ring

      A:

Are we talking here about a dreamcatcher weaving on a 14" ring using the
artificial sinew shown in the picture? If so and you are using a
standard spiderweb pattern then 8 yards should be plenty including a
full wrap around the outer ring (hiding the metal completely). Happy
      projects!

      A:

I do not know of anywhere that sells natural sinew. The best way to get it is to harvest it yourself.

Does artificial sinew harden up and dry like real sinew, or does it stay 'wet and flexible' so to say?
Asked on 3/20/2012 by Goin' primitive from Central Falls, RI

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

No, the artificial sinew does not harden. This is made of nylon and wax.

  • Q:

I'd like to purchase this product but how do I use it with a self nock arrow?
    Thanks
    Asked on 3/15/2012 by Anonymous

      A:

You would wrap it on itself just under the valley of the nock (far enough away it does not contact the string though) to re-inforce the self nock. Many different ways to tie the end. I would wrap it back in on itself about 10 strands in. Once done, be sure to put a coat of something (I use Tru-Oil) to help keep it in place.

this stuff is tough, you can use it on almost anything except backing due to the amount of wax i wouldn't use it for backing, but tie on arrow heads making strings etc. go for it.

  • Q:

I was wanting to make bowstrings out of this stuff and was wondering which poundage of artificial sinew do I need to match the same diameter as the B-50. Thanks
    Asked on 4/30/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

To make a bowstring you will want to use the 70# sinew. The string will be a little thickness due to the strand diameter but it will be close. With the Artificial sinew you will have a lot of stretch because this material expands and contracts with the tempature.

  • Q:

What is this material made of?

      A:

The artificial sinew is made from 100% polyester.
