  • Q:

my hand measures 8.5" which is right on the edge of medium. Given the advice of erring on the small side I ordered the size small instead of the size medium. When the tab arrived it looked quite small but I haven't shot tabs much so I don't know what to look for. When the tab is seated comfortably in hand it does not extend past the first digit crease of my forefinger or middle finger. Is this the correct fit? or is it too small? maybe my finders are disproportionately long. Would a medium be a better choice for me? thanks.

      A:

When the fingers are bent and the string is seated in the tab the edge of the tab should be right at the end of your finger tips. I usually recommend going one size to large and trimming the tab if needed.

Extend your hand flat. With a measuring tape, wrap it around the hand just below the knuckles and fingers, but above the thumb. Apply the measurement to the chart below. Order the smaller size if an in-between size, as leather does tend to strech to fit.

      Gloves/Tabs
      If Hand Measures Men's Sizes
      7.5" - 8" = Small
      8.5" - 9" = Medium
      9.5" -10" = Large
      10.5"-11" = X-Large

      A:

I do not cover my finger tips with the tab. It is too hard to get a good anchor. Do not hold the string on the tip of your fingers, Use a deep hook. You only want enough tap to have a good quality deep hook. Leave the finger tip clear to feel them in the corner of your mouth. Therefore the average man hand uses a medium tab. I use a small tab as I have short fat fingers.
