Have you ever wanted to make an English longbow with horn nocks but didn't want to tackle the job of making them yourself?
Check out these beautiful ready-to-install English longbow style horn nocks. Crafted from solid Asiatic water buffalo horn, they come pre-drilled, polished, and ready to go.

This water buffalo horn is a natural material, and as such the colors will vary. Most of our horn tips are a deep black, some are a combination of black and brown, and a few are predominantly brown. Note: We have no control over the color but if you enter a comment in the box below with your color preference we'll do our best to accommodate you.

It would take most of us several hours to make English longbow style horn nocks like these and that's after we acquired the raw materials and tools. With that in mind, our horn nocks are a fantastic value, all the work is done! You just shape your bow tips and glue the horn nocks on with a strong epoxy like our 5-Minute epoxy, our AAE slow-cure epoxy, or even EA-40 Smooth-On epoxy.

Note: The full-hook style is a more traditional English longbow style and has only one groove in the upper horn tip. The Straight version is still suitable for an English longbow but has an additional groove in the upper tip so a rope bow stringer can be used.

Can be used instead of self nocks on any of our straight or deflex-relex bow blanks. Please select from the drop-down box. Imported.

English Horn Tip Simple Installation Tips

Failures usually occur because there is not enough glue between the glue and wood. In order to ensure the tips do not fail it is important to make sure the bow tip is shaped so that the horn tips fit properly. Before shaping the bow tip to fit the conical hold inside the horn tips, acquire a piece of scrap wood similar to the shape of the bow tip. With a rasp, a belt sander, or block sander, shape the tip similar to sharpening a pencil so that the tip fits all the way to the point inside the hole. The wood must be slightly loose in the hole so that there is plenty of room for glue. If the tip fits tightly the glue will smash pout and leave a dry glue joint. There must be allot of glue filling every cavity inside the hole. The hole inside the horn tip is conical and there cannot be any void areas inside the hole that glue does not fill. A dry glue joint will result in horn tip failure.

After making the scrap wood fit properly use it as a pattern for shaping the bow tip.

Once the bow tip is properly shaped so that it fits all the way into the hole and slightly loose make sure to use a knife to make deep scores on the wood tip as well as inside the horn tips hole. Without enough scores inside the tips holes and on the wood the joint will not be strong enough because the glue needs something to grab., use 5 minute epoxy or Gel superglue to secure it in place. Make sure the tip is square and straight as this can also cause a failure to occur if it is not fitted on the bow tip straight.

Caution: The Gel superglue may not give a person much time to adjust for straightness; however, it is a much safer way to apply the horn tips. Make sure the tip does not slide off, and hold it secure until the glue sets enough to hold it in place.
