Comments about Cartel Youth Recurve Bow By Greatree Archery:

I work as an Education Specialist for USFWS. I purchased four bows (one Cartel) for two camps we put on for area JH and HS students. I was very pleased with the Cartel we purchased. It was easy to set up, lightweight and traveled well. The kids really liked it, as did several adults on hand.

It seems to be a well made product for a very reasonable price. The only issues we had did not relate to the bow directly: the weather was damp at both camps and we couldn't get the arrow rest provided with the bow to stay on. The bow itself was outstanding- I am very pleased with the purchase.

Customer service was out of this world. Also, shipping was remarkable. I placed my order late in the afternoon on a Thursday and had my order the following Monday. I live in a very remote part of Alaska (no FedEx or UPS) and it's nearly impossible to get orders that fast. The only other company I've seen pull that off is Cabelas.

Please note that this review is written based on limited use (two weeks by about a dozen kids). The opinions offered reflect my own personal thoughts as a long time archer and is NOT an official endorsement from the USFWS.

I bought this bow for my Granddaughter who is starting Archery at school. She is 12 yr. old. After a few pointers, she was hitting the target and loving it. I have recommended this bow for several of my beginner archers and everyone has enjoyed it. I have bought three bows from 3 Rivers, Longbow for my wife, Bear fiberglass for another Granddaughter and others I cannot remember. I have always had excelent service, advise and just good company when I was able to visit the store.

Comments about Cartel Youth Recurve Bow By Greatree Archery:

My 9 year old daughter saved up for this bow. She really wanted a non-wood riser and this was a great choice. At 24# it is good for her and she will have it for a long time. We had to get another string because the youth arrows we bought with the bow would not fit. Now she has her new bow and a custom string and she is good as gold. Her shooting percentage increase immediately and she is getting better every week. The shipping was fast and accurate, even though it was shipped up here to Canada.

Comments about Cartel Youth Recurve Bow By Greatree Archery:

The Bow was bought for my son in Feb 2008. He uses the bow for target practice, shooting mostly less than 40 yds. He probably shoots 1 to 2 times per month, and as we get closer to Boy Scout Camp, he shoots more. The Bow recently developed cracks in the knob screw downs that hold the limbs on. The plastic pieces cracked away from the screws. I could not get replacements for them from 3 Rivers or elsewhere. My son has a habit of taking the bow completely down each time for storage. So, with less than 1& 1/2 yrs. usage, the bow components did not hold up well, and I could not get a repair. I was instructed to buy bolts from the hardware store to replace them. For an inexpensive bow, its OK, but I would have expected better components, and at least be able to purchase replacement parts.

I'm a 4-H Shooting Sports instructor. We bought the bow for the 4-H Club. We got this bow for the kids who are just starting out. It is easy to pull and they like the color. We only have one so far. It's a race to see who gets it first. As soon as we can afford them we want to get a few more! It is an affordable, nice, beginners bow, easy to pull, that shoots well!

Comments about Cartel Youth Recurve Bow By Greatree Archery:

This bow is pretty good. I switched to this after discovering that my Titan recurve didn't shoot straight. From my first volley, my accuracy improved dramatically, so I was happy with the change. The only issue I have with this item may actually be my fault. The only reason I marked it as "poor construction" is because of the handle/grip. For some reason, maybe it is just the way I hold it, but the arrow shelf digs into my thumb with a semi-sharp corner. This can be easily solved with gloves however.

Comments about Cartel Youth Recurve Bow By Greatree Archery:

I bought the 62" bow for my 10 yr old son. He has shot it several times now and really enjoys it. He likes setting it up himself when we go to the range, however, it's too difficult for him to string by himself, so I do that for him. The draw weight is about 28# at full draw, which is more than he was used to shooting with his previous setup, but he adjusted quickly. We tried aluminum arrows first with this bow, but they were too heavy and could not reach more than 20 yds. So we bought some carbons that were half the weight and now the bow has no problem reaching 30 yds accurately. Bottom line, this is nice starter bow, but I would recommend upgrading the arrow rest ASAP.

    Service & Delivery comments:

The only problem I had with the bow when it arrived was that the nock was installed way too high. Due to the fact I have no tools to correct this I had to take the bow to the closest pro shop, which is over 1 hr away, and they had to lower the nock a 1/4". Now the bow shots great. I paid $[...] to have the nock installed a whole 1/4" too high, that's the last time I make that mistake. Next time I'll save the money, buy my own tools and do it myself.

3Rivers Archery Response: The standard setting for a split finger shooter is 1/2" higher than the arrow rest. For 3-finger under it is 5/8" above the arrow rest. It is always recommended to personally tune any bow.

After completing a Bow Setup, a 3River's staff member will fire several arrows to test the set up and tune for the best arrow flight possible. Only then will the bow ship.

I love this bow!!! I saved up all of my money for 5 months to get it, and I'm happy I did. I use it almost every 40 degree or up day. It is easy to draw, accurate, and powerful. The only thing that is not so good about this bow is that it is hard to mount a sight onto it. Other than that, it is perfect!!!

I know this is a youth bow, but I'm cheap so I bought it for myself. With my 30" draw it has plenty of speed and power. It will bury an arrow deep into the bark of the monster pine tree behind my house. I've hit the tree from about 80 yds and still sunk the arrow in about 3/4"
