Located in: Strings, Bow Strings
All of our Flemish strings are made in the traditional three bundle technique. This makes for a rounder, stronger string with abrasion resistance. Standard colors are brown and yellow. State actual string length when ordering, NOT bow length. Please note: We offer a 15 strand "universal" string. These strings will work for any bow up to and including 70# @ 28". Recurve strings are available in even inch increments from 44" - 63". Longbow strings are available in whole inch increments from 55" - 68".

Comments about B50 Flemish:

when I got it both ends were coming unraveled right when I took it out of the package. I would have returned it but deer season was 4 days away.I tryed so super glue it but I think the wax would not let it stick to it. Don't get me wrong, I think that your products are great and your shipping time is fantastic. This is just the first time I've had any problems. I rapped the ends with electrical tape and seem's to be holding up so far.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

I've purchased two of these and am happier with the second than I was with the first. So far the second string is performing perfectly whereas the first one had problems with the serving starting to unravel shortly after installing it on my bow.

What do you want - the string ought to last about a year, I suppose and my first one did - after some early repairs I did (with dental floss) to it.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

Since purchase I shot my recurve bow about 100 times and this B50 Flemish string seems to continue to stretch. I am putting over 10 additional twists into the string to achieve a 7" brace length on a Bear Grizzly 43 pound bow. I'm concerned that I may never get away from the stretching.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

This product is o.k., however it has a tendency to fray at the ends of the string easily, which makes me a little nervous. Also, the serving string tends to become loose just after about 100 shots. Other than that, it is a very strong string and takes string wax very well.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

My ST Epics with the H nock literally snap onto this string, which is something I don't like while using my primitive bow. I feel that if the arrow nock is snapping on, then it will require enough force to snap off. Thusly, I believe I'm losing some power/speed at time of release. I'm making a new bowstring with .018 serving. I would not recommend H nocks with the standard sized serving on these strings when using a longbow or primitive bow. However this bowstring is a good product otherwise.

I buy all my strings from 3Rivers and always use B50 Flemish. First thing they are at a good price, and no string stretch. I don't think you will ever have to replace one unless you cut it or serving gets bad on it. Then re-serve it and keep slinging wood.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

Put 100+ arrows thru this thing and it's still stretching. Bought a 58" for my 62" longbow and brace keeps shrinking to under 7 inches. When will it stop? I hate to overtwist a string. Maybe should have bought a 57". When it's at the correct brace height this string shoots really nice, and quiet. Also had to wax the string ends a lot to keep the cut ends from fraying and lay flat against the string.

A good string for the money so far. Only things that I can't vouch for so far is the durability, and water resistancy (haven't had it for very long and haven't shot in the rain yet). But over all good string for the money, I would defenitly buy more.

Cons:
Weak

Comments about B50 Flemish:

After putting this string on my bow (62" Pearson Cougar, 50lb) I could not make my bow shoot properly no matter what I tried. It's almost like the individual bundles were not twisted tight enough before they were twisted together. Changing to another string brought my bow back to shooting properly again

Comments about B50 Flemish:

The serving was tied so loose that it was sliding on the string while I was shooting. It was necessary for me to put a new serving on it. I have, however, bought strings in the past from Three Rivers and they have always been of good quality.

My Favorite
By GigmasterVerified Purchaser from S.E. TN., and N. Ga. on 12/2/2008
Pros:
Abrasion Resistant, Durable, Lightweight, Strong, Water Resistant
Best Uses:
Longbows, Recurve Bows, Wooden Bows
Describe Yourself:
Recreational Archer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about B50 Flemish:

These are the best strings I have ever used. They come already served, and putting on nock points is a breeze. They are predicatable and solid feeling, and seem to transfer most of the bows energy to the arrow. There is no 'mush' feel to it, and my arrows generate really good speed with this string. It's what I put on all the bows I build.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

I have been a customer of 3 Rivers for years and have found everything I have purchased to be first rate. These strings were a disappointment. They stretched way too much, and even though they were twisted a good amount I was worried about them unraveling at the loops. I'll keep buying from 3 Rivers, but not any more strings.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

I started out w/ a fast fight string and did not like how noisy it was, so I tried this string. It is very quiet and I did not notice much loss in arrow speed, if any. I did lower my brace height in order to try and gain any lost speed back. I will stay w/this type of string.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

More care should have been devoted to tucking the loop ends in the string winding. they were both stiking out about 3/4 of an inch and it made the string looked ratty. I know it would not effect the strings purpose, but I had to tuck them in before I strung my bow......

Comments about B50 Flemish:

I receieved my string in the mail and had it on the bow today. I shot for about 45 minutes and constantly had to readjust the brace height on the bow due to the string's stretch. This is my first flemish twist bowstring, so I am not sure if this is common at first or not. After the 45 minutes though, the string got to a point were it would stretch about 1/8 an inch after every six shots or so. Perhaps the string is still being broke in. All in all this is a great string and I am VERY happy with it. I feel it even quieted down my bow as well compared to my old string! I would definitely buy this string again.

Well made string!
By DannyVerified Purchaser from Natchitoches, LA on 11/12/2007
Pros:
Durable, Lots of wax, Strong, Water Resistant
Best Uses:
Longbows, Recurve Bows
Describe Yourself:
Traditional since 1964
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about B50 Flemish:

The only thing that I don't like about the string is the serving area. The diameter is so large that my arrows with snap nocks fit way too tight! I had to take a round file and open them up. A smaller diameter serving would be nice. Otherwise, it's a nice string.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

My bow is a Lommasson custom longbow and I had no idea of the AMO length. I like the looks of the flemmish strings and when I wore the one on it out I had a heck of a time figuring out how to order a replacement. I was able to order this one by it's actual length and it is just what I needed.Thank you, 3Rivers.

Comments about B50 Flemish:

I have bought these bowstrings for many years. They have always worn very well until the last year or so. It seems the ends now slip occasionally when I never had this problem in the past.

Some Concern
By Stick FlingerVerified Reviewer from McKinney, TX on 10/18/2007
Pros:
Usable
Cons:
Loos Threads
Best Uses:
Recurve Bows
Describe Yourself:
Beginner
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about B50 Flemish:

This is my first recurve. When I purchased the bow the string needed to be replaced. The B50 was recommended. The string feels very strong. I have worked with it for a couple of weeks. My only concern is that there were loose threads from day 1. Not sure if this is common, but I am nervous about the longivity of the string. I will replace it because of the frays. The jury is still out on whether I will try another B50.
