Easy and safe for sharpening on a flat stone .
No great experience when shooting on big game

Going from a compound to a traditional bow (recurve) I needed help in putting a product list together to produce a heavy arrow compatible with my bow. It really helped to have an assist from a member of the 3Rivers staff.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
I use these product for hunting deer goat and pigs to now I have not been disappointed its cut on contact and good blade diameter leave a very good blood trail the one peace construction makes it easy to maintain an edge. The only downfall is if you bend a blade the head is a right-off. I prefer single construction and that is the small price i pay.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
Difficult to sharpen, killed one deer with complete pass through but no bone contact, very light blood trail deer went about 65 yards. I pulled my last shot 3 inches left and hit shoulder blade, got no penetration and the shaft of the point broke off in the insert so there is a buck in Oklahoma running around with [$] worth of woodsman in his shoulder, tracked him over a mile until the blood trail dried up and the snow disappeared. Have been able to get the relatively sharp with a lot of work, I would say check them out yourself, hunting partner say's he will never use them again. Don't believe the hype but if you put it where it needs to be not a bad broadhead.Shooting a 150 grain out of a recurve ~60#

As a professional hunting guide and guide instructor these are the only broadhead i recomend to my clients and students. For recure bows and compounds the true flight and penetration cant be beat. When hunting elk or bear these are the broadhead for the job!!!

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
The heads fly good and I get very good penetration into the target. The factory grind is off so bad on some of the heads that 1 side is deeply ground and the other has no grind at all. I couldn't get them sharp, I bought all the sharping tools recommended and followed thier sharpening instructions. I can't comment on how they work on animals because I couldn't get them sharp enough to take hunting. I placed another order shortly after I received my heads and asked the fellow on the phone about the heads and he told me they had some grind issues at factory but they are taken care of now. He told me how to sharpen them which was the exact way I was already doing it.
I'm very disappointed with these heads and I will never buy them again.
If they knew the grind was off on a batch of heads they should've never been sold. They should've been sent back to the factory and reworked.

Kills what you hit. No fancy stuff, Just sharp edges. Remember, the Indians didn't starve with sharp rocks on wood shafts. Don't get excited with fancy expensive stuff. Be good at your craft and these 'heads are fine.

I have five of these broadheads for hunting and one for practice. I use them with a Navajo Stick. 51# I am drawing about 45# and have killed a 150lb hog with no problem. I plan on taking several hogs in Jan 10 with the same set up. I like the penetration very much.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
The woodsman 125gr screw-in broadheads are accurate out of the box. No tuning necessary...they fly like darts. I shot one into a tree from a distance of 50 yards to test their sturdiness, and was dismayed to find that the shaft of the broadhead had bent. I'm a bit concerned about how they will react if striking bone in an animal. I have read that the 'elite' series of broadheads are made to a harder rockwell scale, so that may remedy the problem.

Broadheads fly like a feild point, very accurate.
Perfect broadhead once you get the hang of sharpening them. With the warranty they have they are hard to beat. I wrote a reveiw about breaking one after missing my mckinsey target and in a short time there was a replacement sent to my by 3 rivers. Wow, great product backed by great service. Thats stuff my parents talked about.

I was expecting a better level of sharpeness , the finish on the blade is not good , it gives a serrated feeling when testing , and as it is a three blades broadhead it is not easy to sharpen

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
Woodsman broadheads are absolutely the best broadheads I 've ever shot. They fly like darts and are super consistant. No tuning necessary. Quality construction, they are tough and penetrate like a hot knife through butter. Also, re-sharpening them is extremely easy. I've already given away all of the other brand broadheads I owned. It's Woodsman or nothing from now on!

I hunt with a recurve bow and have killed my share of deer. I have used many different broadheads, but these have the worst edge I have ever seen. You absolutely must sharpen before use. Otherwise, the broadheads are of good design and fly great.

the Broadheads fly great and look like they would be excellent for hunting, But just don't miss your Mckinsey. I missed my deer target 1 time and when I pulled the arrow out of the dirt," not rock" the tip was curled and had separated from the blades. I still like them and plan to use these for hunting. Not 125 grains as advertised. Mine actually weighed 130-131 grains. I don't think they're factoring in the weight on the insert. Its a small matter and very easy adjust for. I just bought the 5 grain weights to add to my field points.

I SPEND A LOT OF TIME RESEARCHING BROADHEADS, TWO , THREE, AND FOUR BLADED. I E-MAILED AND CALLED MANY COMANPIES AND FRIENDS REGUARDING THEIR BROADHEADS. I HAVE SHOT MANY TWO BLADED BUT LIKED THE IDEA OF THE BALANCE OF THE THREE.
I DECIDED TO GO WITH THE 150 GRAIN THREE BLADED BROADHEADS. MAN THE LOOKED NICE, YES YOU HAVE TO SHARPEN THEM YOUR SELF. BUT THE HUNTERS OF YESTER-YEAR HAD TO SHARPEN THEIR BROADHEADS AS WELL. FILE THE POINT SO ITS NOT SO NEEDLE LIKE.
I TOOK OFF MY FIELD POINTS AND SCREWED IN MY BROADHEADS, AND I SWEAR THEY SHOOT BETTER THEN MY FIELD. I REALLY LIKE THESE HEADS AND LOOK FORWARD TO THIS HUNTING SEASON, WATCH OUT MULIES AND WHITETAILS. I RECOMMEND THESE.
I SHOOT A 62 POUND LONGBOW MADE BY JD BERRY.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
These broadheds are good quality. The initial sharpening takes some time, but with the right approach you can achieve a very sharp edge. I used a 12" file and it worked great. Broadheads fit on the file great to sharpen two edges at once. The "ticked" was to take extra time and apply moderate even pressure with consistancy and finish with light smooth strokes. I am very pleased with the results.
I called 3Rivers for broadhead sharpening advice and they returned my call in no time and offered their approach to sharpening these heads as mentioned in product review. Thank you for the advice and help.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
These are easy to sharpen. I did it just like the video from 3Rivers says. I only shot one time with these so far. They flew just like my target points. Too bad I was shooting at a goat about 45 degrees uphill from me and the arrow went right over his back. (my error) The arrow flew perfectly. I just ordered another pack. If you need a broadhead in this weight, buy it. Very nice. It looks awesome too. The two guys I went hunting with took them out when I wasn't in camp and checked them out. They told me how 'cool' they were.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
It is true that these broadheads do not arrive with a sharp edge. Instead they have a machine cut edge that is sharp enough to hunt with but was not to my standard. I prefer an edge that will shave the hair off my arm. This is very possible with these heads though. I read that some of the other reviews stated that it was difficult to sharpen these broadheads, and I would agree. They do take some effort to sharpen, but I know from experience that this is also true with a knife that is made of high quality steel. In other words if you are willing to put forth the effort it pays off! The only thing I was not pleased with and also did not aid in the sharpening process was that you can not simply lay these broadheads on a flat stone and sharpen two edges at once. I know that was the intent of the design, but here is why you can't do this effectively. If you look at the head with the tip facing you, you will notice that there is a very slight curve in the edge. the tip and the rear are lined up, but the middle of the edge is flexed or bowed in a little. Because of this when you lay the head flat on a sharpening stone the middle of the edge is just barely shy of touching the stone. I figured I would just sharpen them down until the middle met the stone but that would have taken forever. So I had to use a stone with a round edge. The round edge made it possible to sharpen the entire head to a mind blowing, hair shaving, death machine. In the end I still love these heads! Once you deal with the sharpening you will have what I would say is one of the most lethal broadheads on the market.

Thay came so dull that I hade to put them on my belt sander and then sharpen them. I have not used them on game yet but thay look like thay should do the job. But the company should be embarrassed to send out a product so dull. I changed from Zephyr Sciroccos that come out of the box razor sharp and are better made. I will most likly change back if thay dont perform well on game.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
These broad heads are impossible to sharpen because the steel is not what they claim. The steel is to soft to get razor sharp. I literally spent hours on each broad head and could never get them sharper than mediocre steak knife. I will definitely be changing to a better broad head manufacturer.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
These broadheads are scary sharp. I haven't shot at any game with them yet, but it isn't hard to see that they will inflict massive amounts of damage. Easy as can be to sharpen, with a file and a sharpening stone. The tip has a needle point that immediately transitions into the three razor edges. Obviously this will get dinged if you hit bone, or a rock or tree... but hey I think the effort of sharpening them out is well worth the damage they will do.

Been shooting Bear Razorheads for 45 years and switched over last year just for a change and I'm very pleased with the accuracy and penetration. I've shot one whitetail and one large muley buck and the broadhead performed beautifully. Great blood trails. Haven't shot concrete, wood or bricks yet but then again that's not what I bought them for.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
I just shot my 1 st whitetail with the woodsman broadheads, I used the duel sharpening stone to get the sharpest broadheads I've ever used, I got way excited after shooting over the bucks back and center punching a oak tree....(which I later found I buried the head into the tree) I got a second chance at the buck, a 16 inch wide 4 point 2 1/2 year old, I shot the buck with my Great Plains "Rio Bravo" 55# with tradational gold tip arrow and 150 grain Woodsman that literaly knocked the buck on his side. I could see the blood pumping and recovered him 50 or 60 yards away, these are the only heads I'll shoot from now on .... Take your time sharpening them.... Water seemed to work the best on the stone. Hope you all have great success.

With the glue in ferrel you can tune the arrows so that feathers and blades match up for better flight. Just like all the hype on the the page they sharpen easy hold an edge, and are very leathel. I've experienced complete knock down not to mention a wound that leaves no room for clotting.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 150gr & 125gr Screw-In:
I recently purchased Woodsman broadheads. I am very unhappy with this product. I spent two weeks trying to get them sharp enough to hunt with. This included following the direction on the Trad Gang website, sharpening them the way I've sharpened snuffers and finally taking them to my brother in laws sharpening shop. I finally got them not shaving sharp but they would slice a rubber band. Tonight I was shooting them and missed the target the arrow bounced off the ground and stuck into a piece of plywood. When I got the head out of the plywood by pulling on the broadhead not the arrow the tip was bent. That was the final straw. I switched back to my two blade broadheads. Thank you for reading my rant.
