Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

I mounted my Magnus II 2 blade 125 grain broadheads on the 125 grain adapters for the desired 250 grain tips. I recommend scuffing the adapter up some as well as the inside of the broadhead to get a good glue hold.

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

When I wanted to try carbons for the first time with my longbow, I needed a way to both boost weight and tame spine. Having heard so much about EFOC and its effects, these were a clear choice. Absolutely wonderful. I'm using the 125 gr adapters with 130 gr Stos and some 125 gr blunts for practice and small game. Heavy and accurate, they're tough and seem to hold the point better than similiar aluminum adapters I have- something I wasn't expecting. I will be using this product over and over, and plan to order more very soon.

I tried this adapters as a way to bump up the weight of my aluminum hunting arrows, and also utilize some glue-on broadheads I had. With a little experimentation, I had a heavy, great shooting arrow with an extreme FOC. Very handy for my longbow! The adapters were very well made and easy to use.

By JLVVerified Purchaser from Australia on 8/26/2009
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

Product appears well built and finished, but the taper is not consistant with that on the broadhead I use. I fitted them to Australian made 'blackstump' broadheads, which have always fitted perfectly on a standard alloy adapter, but they had to be packed up with glue, and considerable time spent spin testing the alignment. May fit better on another brand of broadhead??

These adapters combined with 160 grain Magnus 2 blade broadheads allowed me to bring my hunting arrow weight up to 650 plus grains for testing penetratiion, as suggested by Dr. Ed Ashby. They also forced the FOC to in excess of 30%. Initial results are good and the arrows handle the extra weight and FOC well.

Picture not accurate
By TomVerified Reviewer from Greenwood, Missouri on 11/4/2008
Cons:
Breaks Easily
Describe Yourself:
Recreational Archer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

The pictures of the 125 grain steel adaptor is not the same as what arrived in the mail. The diameter of the adapter just above the threads is smaller than indicated in the picture, which creates a weak point. These adapters are not as shown in the internet sales catalog.

3Rivers Archery Response: 3Rivers has updated our picture since receiving this review. The point being referred to is not a weak point as when the adapter is mounted it is within the shaft and insert. It would not cause a break at that point, thus the diameter change is not an issue.

I was deeply unsatisfied with my muzzy phantom broadheads and wanted something that would sharpen and hold an edge reliably. Unfortunately, my arrows need a 200+gr weight out of my bow. These adapters fit my carbon express arrows well and socketed into my Zwickey Eskimo broadheads perfectly. I put the finished arrows on a spinner and could see no difference with the phantoms.

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

I use these steel inserts in my old green Bear broadheads and other broadheads I hunt with. This gives me 230 to 290 grain broadheads, depending on the broadhead used, which allows me to use heavier spined arrows which equates to heavier total arrow weight for better penetration and great arrow flight. As you know, a heavy arrow helps quiet the bow. This is a great product that I will continue to use.

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

I've recently been working up a new arrow broadhead combination for my longbow to achieve maximum performance. Some things I was considering were arrow weight, FOC, and perfect flight. Setup included a 675 grain finished carbon arrow consisting of a 190 grain Grizzly Broadhead, 100 grain Brass insert and 75 grain Steel broad head adapter. While doing some bare shaft testing I had an arrow fly low impacting the dirt shy of the target. The broadhead remained in the ground and the rest of the arrow went tumbling over the target. The arrow failed at the base of the steel broadhead adapter where it goes from the thickest width to the narrow that fits into the shaft. I chose steel because of its strength but after watching my broadhead snap off in the spring soil leaves me wondering what it would do in a less than perfect shot on an elk. This is the first time I've used these broadhead adapters and I do not know if this would continue to happen or if it was some sort of manufacturing fluke. Many people have good luck with these but as hunters we owe it to the animals we hunt to test our equipment and make sure it will work in conditions that are less than ideal.

Durable, Pierces Well, Very Straight, Well Crafted
Cons:
Does not fit ferrule
Best Uses:
Hunting
Describe Yourself:
Recreational Archer

Comments about Broadhead Adapters, Steel:

I glued an "El Grande" Grizzly onto this adapter. The taper of the adapter did not fit the ferrule of the broadhead. The front part of the adapter was to small and not tapered properly to give good contact with the broadhead. The broadheads wobbled until I used more glue to build up the void. Is this the proper way to install a head. In the past the adapter fit the ferrule of the head and the glue was used to hold the head on the arrow. The taper tool I used on my wood shafts was perfect and the fit did not have in slack between the arrow and the ferrule on the head. Please advise.
