Purchase my first recurve in 2007. It was a used "(1978) Fred Bear Grizzly 45#@28. I was very amazed that a 30yrs old bow was shooting so nicely. January 2010, I purchase a Fred Bear Super Kodiak #55@28. OMG, What a step up. With the fast flight string and the extra draw weight, this bow send arrows like rockets. There is no noticable drop within 20 Metres. I was invited for a black bear hunt by a hunting TV show (Québec/Canada) and smoked a bear at 15 Metres. It was a shoulder shot and managed to get a good 12" of penetration with the Stinger 4 blades broadheads. Very satisfied.

All I have to say is wow. I've never shot a bow thats more beautiful, and it performed beautifly as well I will use it for hunting and compitition. The bow is also very well crafted

Ever since I received this recurve I just fell in love with it. I used to be a compound shooter and have shot 12 deer with it, but ever since I started shooting this bow I will never turn back. I love the wood finish, and how it shoots very smooth. I have owned this bow for less than a week and already have shot hundreds of arrows through it. Just sitting here talking about this bow makes me want to be outside shooting it. All I have to say is this bow has really made me TRADITIONAL ONLY!

This bow is a great bow, but that is what you expect from Bear. But the service I received from 3 Rivers was not what I expected. The help from Shawn was outstanding and beyoud what was required or expected. I am a long term customer for sure now. Rattlesnakes do not like this bow.
I got him just before he got me.

I have always wanted this bow,and when I received it, I couldnt be happier! It was promptly deliverd, and wow!....on the range, sweet!!! It shoots hard, fast and as long as I do my part, she hits where I am looking! I cant wait untill next years deer season! Heck,I am even once again excited about hunting anything with this beauty! I bought this bow in 1992 and have been shooting happily ever since. Shoots straight and hits hard. Have harvested several deer using my 60lb Bear shooting cedar arrows. 17 years old and still shoots like I bought it yeaserday.

Very pleased with every aspect of this bow. It was between this and the Grizzly and I am very happy to have spent the extra money for the Super Kodiak.
I went to 3R to buy a bow and got a whole lot more out of it than I could even emagine. the team at 3R not only knows archery but they equally know customer service. driving two and a 1/2 hours was well worth it. I got to try out the bows that i was interested in and was very pleased with this bow. they kept working and working until I was confident in what I was buying. After three weeks or so of shooting it I have to say well worth it and I am totally in love with shooting traditional.

As a lefty with serious shoulder problems, created by 8 yrs of tough national and regional archery competition and training[NAA/NFAA], I find it next to impossible to find a decent hunting recurve bow that is deer legal; 35#+ in LHIt seems that the only draw # Bear offers anymore for the lefty is 55#. Fred was a lefty, and when he and I shot together almost 40 yrs ago, we talked about the lack of good quality LH bow then.I had used a Bear Polar to win the 1966 IN & International Indoor Amateur Championships among others: because I couldn't just go to the local archery shop and buy a good LH target bow. Now things are even worse for the recurve buying lefty, especially older, younger, and the physically disabled; 55#, take of leave it! Jerry [...], Terre Haute, In

I took this bow out for the first time Deer Hunting, and it delivered the punch and performance that I needed. I took a shot from a stand at 25 yards with the 55#, and it drove the cedar arrow into a good sized buck with ease. I highly recommend this model, but personally would probablly step up the poundage on my next bow.
