If you're building self bows, laminated bows, or finishing one of our many bow kits you'll need a tillering stick. Ours is constructed of clear pine with a top notch of approx. 1 1/2" x 3" and 28 side-notches cut 1/2" deep for strength, spaced 1" apart. Tillering board is 35" tip to tip and actual dimensions are approx. 3/4" x 3 3/8". (1 x 4) This board is ready to use, but if you'd prefer it sanded, stained, and finished, you'll do that at home. The tillering process is much easier with a tillering board. Make sure you include one in your bowmaking supplies.

This is poorly constructed. I tried to tiller a heavy weight longbow and the first time I used it I broke a notch off. Clearly was made for low draw weight tillering.The second time I used it I broke the tiller horizontally and also another notch off. Better off as fire wood. I never would recommend one to someone and believe that stronger construction (stronger wood material) would probably solve most of the problem.
