    Comments about Take-Down Bow Sleeves:

I use both the small and large kits. Takes good woodworking skills to get a good fit. Only problem is the large kit comes with only one brass fitting; this causes the bow not to be straight, 1 limb is off centered by 1/18 to 1/8 of an inch. This may not be a problem for most people. But, I order 2 kits and use 2 brass fittings on the large kit to keep the bow straight.

    Comments about Take-Down Bow Sleeves:

Installed take-down sleeves on rawhide-backed osage longbow. Sleeves did not fit one inside the other perfectly out of the "box". It took a certain amount of filing to achieve a smooth mating of surfaces, but once done, everything worked fine. A durable, simple design. I found a neat trick for a super-fine fit was to spread a little quick-set epoxy such as JB Weld inside the female sleeve, put a thin layer of grease on male sleeve, then slide together when the epoxy set to putty-like consistency (don't let it get too hard-happens pretty quick). Pull the male sleeve right back out carefully, clean up the extra epoxy that was pushed around inside female sleeve, and let fully harden. Makes a perfect tight mating of surfaces that "pops" when you pull them apart! Automotive body filler would probably work great too.

    Comments about Take-Down Bow Sleeves:

I build seflbows and all wood laminates, I find this item the easiest and most traditional way to make a take down bow. It is efficient, robust and it reminds me of the old timers I really love the stuff.

    Comments about Take-Down Bow Sleeves:

The sleeves were too tight right out of the package. Even the shape was a bit imperfect. I had to grind it and re-bend it a couple times before it worked. And I had to use grease to get it to fit though that doesn't bother me. I'd try to go to a tubing warehouse before I bought another one.

    Comments about Take-Down Bow Sleeves:

First time using take down sleeve system, I modified existing bow, instructions would have been nice. Outer sleeve slightly different shape the inner sleeve,(led to lower limb wobble which led to noisy bow, cured by shimming lower sleeve.) However, system works well and made an interesting project, have shot about 100 arrows with no problems. Tip, work real slow and measure frequently.
