This is a great gift for any outdoors-man however I like it for my new young hunter, my eight year old son. It helps him learn to note the important parts of a hunt experience i.e. wind direction, weather, tracks etc. Also, it's perfect for remembering the fun and exciting portions of a hunt. I use mine every time I go to the wood lot.

Being a geologist, I have always used rite in the rain products. I also have one in my fishing pack. Beginning elk hunting a few years ago, I was only keeping track of areas and events on my GPS. Now I'll have a permanent record of my hunt logs.Always use a pencil, during heavy downpours a pencil will not smear.

Rite in the Rain – Field Test by The Plasticsman. My purpose for buying the Rite in the Rain Tablets was to add them to my EDC Kit and put in my Survival/Hunting Pack as well. To test them I have let it rain on them and have even soaked them under water for a period of time. The interesting thing is that as they get wet your pencil or ballpoint seems to write better, and your writing doesn’t wash off. So you can write in the rain or write under water, your choice.These are in my opinion a must have item to carry in your pack while in the woods hiking or hunting or on the job wherever you might encounter wet conditions.

I use this product at work and I swear by it. I work in construction at a steel mill and there is always wet conditions.Plus in the summer time I don't have to worry about getting my notebook all sweaty. Before I had to put my regular notebooks in a ziplock bag and then put it in my pocket to keep the sweat from destroying it. Now no problems at all. Thanks alot 3Rivers for a great product!!!

I purchased this to use as a field journal as it seems perfect for that. I have to admit I was a little a skeptical as to the texture and appearance of the paper do to its "waterproofness," however it is just like regular paper. I can't comment on how effective it is, yet, and hope that I never have to find out but I like having the reassurance there just in case. I wish they had more pages in each book and perhaps a full size notebook size.
