For a real traditional experience, try the Bowglove! If you're a traditional, SCA, or primitive archer who likes to shoot off the hand, this is an outstanding glove! Rather than wearing it on your shooting hand, you wear the Bowglove on the hand that holds the bow. The arrow then rests on the dark leather portion of the glove, saving your hands a lot of wear and tear out on the range or in the woods! Perfect for English style longbows, the Medieval War Bow and the Medieval Huntsman. Get in touch with your primitive roots with this outstanding Bowglove! Remember, ORDER for the HAND YOU HOLD YOUR BOW WITH. Right-Handed Shooters should order a Left Hand Glove, and Left-Handed Shooters should order a Right Hand Glove. Comes in Right and Left Hand, sizes XLarge, Large, Medium, and Small. Imported.

Comments about Bowglove:

I just started in traditional Archery, and am very glad that I found Three Rivers.I purchase a bow glove to wear on my right hand to help me hang on to a Martin Recurve.I'm naturaly right handed, but have Macular degeneration in my right eye,so wa-la I've become a lefty at the age of 54.The bow glove serves it intended purpose as I planned.I have plans for a modification, that I'll share on a forum in the future. The bow glove is quality thru and thru, soft and flexible very comfortable to wear.I would reccomend it for shooting any type bow {not just primitive with no rest}.

Comments about Bowglove:

The bow glove is a really good item! Since I only like to use primitive type bows where you shoot off the back of the hand, it's really usefull. Too often I've been out shooting and I've had to stop because the fletching whould be making my hand raw - but that's not a problem now! :D

Comfortable and Practical
By BlackJackCheraqueVerified Purchaser from Sarnia Canada on 6/1/2009
Pros:
Comfortable, Good Feel, Good Protection, Not too hot on the hand
Best Uses:
Back Up, Hunting, No Arrow Rest Bows, Reenactment, Target Shooting
Describe Yourself:
Recreational Archer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Bowglove:

This glove is a must have for the archer using a primitive bow that does not have an arrow rest. The first dozen arrows I put over the glove tore at it a bit which means my hand would have been a mess. I put some fletching glue on the front point of the feathers to help smooth things out a little bit as well. The glove doesn't heat up my hand and is very soft and comfortable. Don't know how long it will stand up to the constant slashing of the feathers.

Comments about Bowglove:

I like this glove a lot, because I can't even tell I'm wearing it. Very comfortable. Wouldn't mind seeing the arrow rest leather a little tougher. Mine is showing cuts already from the feathers on my ST Epics from a weekend of shooting. Like another reviewer, I found a feather sliver in the glove which would have been painful and deep in my hand otherwise. A must have for primitive bow archers.

Comments about Bowglove:

I use an English longbow, so the arrow rests on my hand. This glove is a must for hand protection. I found a small sliver of feather imbedded in the glove, which would have been in my index finger if I had not been wearing it.

Comments about Bowglove:

I shoot mostly Hungarian and Mongolian bows. Have used climber's gloves to protect the hand seating the arrow because of the additional padding. Other guards I've used are cumbersome and fit badly, affecting the release. This is the best fit so far and much less expensive than climbing gear.

Comments about Bowglove:

Glove is great if you dont have a shelf on your bow. I have shot with just skin and it hurts if you cut yourself with a feather! I wouldn't say it is poor quality construction but it is starting to show a little bit of wear after shooting 2-3 times a week for about 3 weeks.

Comments about Bowglove:

Just what I was looking for. I got real tired of feathers cutting my hand. I tried tape, band aids (would peel off when hand got sweatty) and a full glove (too hot). I'm thinking I may buy a second one just in case they stop making this (which I hope they don't).

Comments about Bowglove:

I was designing a glove for myself to use with my Kassai bow and was doing pretty well, but when I saw that 3Rivers was stocking this glove, I immediately ordered one and am very pleased with the fit, feel, construction, and cost. I would love to see one of these with sealskin instead of smooth leather, but anyway, I'm happy with the glove.

Comfortable, Good Feel, Good Protection, Quality Construction
Cons:
Loose top leather

Comments about Bowglove:

I have been active in archery for over 53 yrs.and have tried many accessories for my bows (compound, recurve, longbow) and have found the bowglove satisfactory to use. My only wish is that the top leather would be tighter. When holding bows with no arrow rest the top (dark) leather has too many folds. For years I have used a skin tight handball glove but it is rather uncomfortable in hot weather.

Comments about Bowglove:

I use a yew English Longbow (i.e: no arrow shelf) and it has been difficult to find a women's leather workglove or garden glove that would fit my bow hand but not be too loose in the fingers, etc., for shooting. The new bow glove actually fits where it's supposed to and is much cooler for the hand than a full leather glove has been.

The only problem was the velcro closure could be angled slightly away from the hand for a more secure closure. Otherwise, this glove both stopped the occasional cutting of my knuckle and absorbed most of the string slap.

Pros:
Comfortable, Good Feel, Good Protection
Best Uses:
Reenactment, Target Shooting
Describe Yourself:
Competitive Archer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Bowglove:

This glove is much more comfortable and less restrictive than the modified work gloves I've made and used over the years. This Summer will be the true test, but so far I feel I've gotten more than my money's worth. There's no annoying seam to get in the way or split open when the errant fletch bites in. The only ding I can give it is the prominent company logo, that kind of detracts from the appearance if you do reenactment.
A note to potential buyers though:
Using the measurement instructions in the catalog told me I only needed a medium size glove. I'm glad I stepped up to Large. It's a snug large, but it fits. I'm afraid a Medium wouldn't have.
