    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

This product has received a bad rap, and in my opinion unjustly. It is not a modern Velcro-restrained, quickie bracer, to be sure. On the other hand, I shoot English longbow. I draw a heavy bow back full and hold the bow at full extension. Modern bracers were inevitably too light and I would feel the string slap painfully through them. With this bracer, my arm is protected. If the string slaps, I feel it, but the arm is armored in this thing. I'm a big man and the bracer is big enough to cover enough of my forearm for full protection.

People have complained it's not comfortable. Guess what, it's a medieval design, not some 21st century ergonomic space material uninteresting hunk of junk. In any case, I find it adequately comfortable, so much so that once it's on, I virtually forget about it. If I wanted to make it more comfortable, I could easily put a bit of cloth over my arm before putting it on, or even just attach such a lining to the leather.

When I shoot archery, I'm usually on my private range or hunting. I like this bracer enough to use it on the range, and I like it more when hunting. It's tough, it holds up to the thick forests of Nova Scotia. It takes me all of a minute to put it on, only a few seconds longer than a modern bracer. A touch of mink oil protects it against our damp weather.

The leather is solid construction and I'm confident it will last. It looks period and does its job well. It goes on and off easily. You couldn't ask for a better bracer.

I expected arm protection for both arms with the abiulity to draw bow without the string getting caught on the inner short round . Get rid of these and have kids wear them for play. they are NOT at all archery devices

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

having an old bracer which did nothing to protect my arm, I was grateful these bracers showed up in time for my regular practice. It's comfortable, gorgeous and works well. I would highly recommend this bracer for anyone who has an SCA persona. The great thing about having the two bracers is that there is a back up for when it finally wears out (if it does). All in all, it's a great addition to my medieval clothing.

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

I like the looks. They look very authentic and they feel authentic too. The armguards are made of nicely tanned thick leather. But like most things medieval, comfort was last on the list of priorities. All in all I like them though, they are super durable and if you ever ran out of arrows you could beat someone to death with these things! They are heavy duty!

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

These Bracers just look overwhelming. It is very well crafted. I can't find any weak points. They are adjustable to practically any size thanks to the concept of 2 parts connected with 3 leather straps. It takes a bit long to put them on though, but that's okay as I can't see how to change that without giving up the concept of high protection, great look and adjustability. I absolutely recommend this product to traditional archers. I bought the set (right and left arm) just for the looks! By the way, it perfectly matches the Lockesley Quiver also available here. It uses the same leather combo of dark red and brown and even has the same symbol engraved.

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

The leather is quite stiff (I have applied some hands cream to soften it a little, we'll see how it works) and the adjustment system is limited if your arm is not very thick since the two leather parts interfere against each other before fitting OK to your arm.
The look is as good as seen on the website photographs and the finish quality is really superb.

    Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

Can't say that I'd recommend this for several reasons:
    1) The design causes the part of the bracer that is supposed to shield your arm to stick out and catch the bow string.
    2) The leather dye wasn't sealed
    3) I'm not a big person, yet the leather bracer was neither long enough nor wide enough to cover my arm.

As a result of the poor curing, it ruined one of my shirts by bleeding red dye all over it.

    Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery from 3Rivers was, as usual, excellent.

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

I love this site. I buy would all my things here but I hate the youth arrows (they break easily). I prefer traditional archery because it is challenging. This product works well. It's just a little tricky to get on/off. Over all I would definetly buy again.

    Comments about Medieval Bracer:

This item is great for the price and looks authentic too with nice trim design in the leather. Color is neat, red leather on top, brown on bottom. Straps look tough too with all good quality. I use it with a glove too that kind of holds this bracer in place to a degree. I could see someone having trouble getting this to stay exactly where you want it on your arm. It has to do with the shape or you arm, how do you get something like this to fit perfect and stay put on that angle. Perhaps some foam weather strip glued inside or something to add a little friction. Would a more expensive bracer work better? I don't know. I'd buy this one again.
